He also left his originally drafted team to join with the 2nd and 4th highest PER in the league. (They were all in the same conference as well.) Only to end up losing in the NBA Finals while being outscored by Jason Terry despite logging many more minutes.
To put this into perspective that would be like if Michael Jordan left the bulls and joined with Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley....Only to lose in the Finals while being outscored by John Starks.
Just one of many reasons why it is the common consensus that it is the GOAT choke. The worst choke of all time. Which immediately invalidated any conversation of being the GOAT and still to this day makes it an argument if he’s top 10.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Finals were too much for LeBron, he already had previous experience in the Finals too so it wasn’t his first time around. LeBron was in his prime at 26 and it was his second appearance….the lights were still too bright and he choked hard again. Choked even harder then the first. It’s the GOAT choke.
So that being said when it’s time to evaluate the 2012 shortened lockout season ring vs the 22 and 23 year old core of OKC…Is this ring really anything to write home about? KD was 23, Russ 23, Harden 22. All of these guys are still known for being low iq chokers in big moments even after experience.
So celebrating a win vs 22 and 23 year old low iq choke artists does not really make sense. Especially when a player supposedly as great as LeBron James was still shitting the bed on the biggest stage, even with WAY more personal experience (LeBron had more years of experience, and more finals experience) in 2011.
So if one of the best players of all time is still choking his way through his first two finals even at age 26? What’s so special about beating lesser players that were younger with even less experience? In a shortened lock out season as well.

OP desperately wanted the US to lose just because Lebron was playing.

Holy meltdown Batman.
What was Delly's PER in 2015? Why was he able to shutdown the MVP in the Finals?
LeBron after the 2015 Finals... 4fmvp votes
Curry after 5 Finals.... 4fmvp votes

You guys refuse to understand basketball..... Superstars don't need anyone to get them easy looks because they get easier looks via ball movement and 5-man basketball.... if one guy is trying to get a fellow superstar an easy shot - that's redundant and unnecessary.. Barkley or Drexler didn't need anyone getting them open looks - they got better looks by the ball moving and 5-man basketball.. if the US played 5-man basketball like Serbia, France, Germany, or the 92' Dream Team, the margin of victory would match the massive talent advantage that we have... And again, everything you said about Lebron was replaceable, aka Lebron's post defense is trash compared to Bam or Embiid.. The team just catered to the worst brand in history (ball-dominant triple-double ball), which nearly caused several losses.. Lebron averaged 4 turnovers, which is trash against these bums and garbage assist to turnover ratio against bums.. Jordan averaged 4 steals and 1.3 turnovers (4 to 1 assist to turnover ratio)
Carry on

Too superstars who are all scorers and provide no playmaking could easily turn into ISO ball all game long which would overall hurt the flow of the offense and make it easier for opponents to defend. Having a team with multiple players whose main specialty is scoring has rarely worked throughout history. For example, I saw Edwards at times in the Olympics dribbling too much which would hurt the flow of the offense since he isn't really a passer, Tatum was also a ball-stopper on this team which is why he struggled. You need someone in there to direct the offense, and LeBron was that guy.
But anyways, I already exposed you for lying about stats in the OP.

Who has no playmaking?....
KD, Curry, Booker, Haliburton average 6+ assists and can get elite assists anytime they want or their team needs it.
All these guys would be valuable assets in a ball movement approach with cutting, moving and setting screens off-ball.. This is more diverse offense that includes facets of everything (including some ball-domination) and it's "5-man basketball", whereas bron-ball is predictable drive-and-kick (2-man basketball).
Germany, Serbia, Australia, and even South Sudan play a better brand of 5-man basketball that doesn't rely on 1 guy dominating the ball.. If we played that same brand so our chemistry and brand of ball matched or exceeded theirs, then our margin of victory would match our massive talent advantage..

Stop looking at stats and actually watch the games. KD & Curry were never really considered playmakers, that is not their specialty, one of the reasons why KD got swept by Boston a couple of years is because he couldn't break down their defense with his passing with all the soft doubles they were sending him, Curry is more of a shooting guard in a point guard body. Booker is a decent playmaker, but the Suns struggled all year because they didn't have anyone direct the offense. Haliburton was the only true playmaker on the team along with LeBron, but he didn't get playing time because he was a liability on defense.
And why did you lie about stats in the OP?

All those guys are good to great passers... So you were wrong... Curry wouldn't be considered the GOAT point guard if he couldn't pass lol.. Booker's passing is absolutely good to elite... Haliburton?.. stop it..
So you just made some false narratives up to put the ball in Lebron's hands and play an inferior brand of ball that caused close games.. The guy averaged 4.1 turnovers in 25 MPG (1.3 for MJ) and his turnover ratio against this bad competition was only 2 to 1 (4 to 1 for MJ)... And only 1.3 steals per game (4.1 for MJ)... MJ is just far superior.

If Lebron wasn't on the team they could've used a much heavier dose of Haliburton who was literally the assist and playmaking leader for the whole NBA in 2024. Tatum also would've got more consistent minutes and not been frozen out.
The bottom line is if Steph Curry didn't have the best Team USA individual performance in Olympic history in the comeback vs Serbia, they would've been bronze this year with the most stacked Avengers style team the country ever had.
I still haven't heard anybody be able to bring up a better Team USA Olympic basketball performance in it's entire history.

Haliburton was the best passer in the world this year. Jrue and Steph are extremely good and high IQ passers as well. Team USA was not lacking for passing or playmaking ability. They were stacked to the absolute brim, but needed somebody to takeover in the Olympic playoff tournament or they would've lost and that's where Currys performance was unreplaceable as nobody has ever dropped 36 on like 90% TS in what was a close do or die Medal game.
