As I see it, this is a bit perplexing and challenging, because at the end of the day, no combination is entirely flawless. However, I find myself gravitating toward the wolves and the 10,000 rats.

This is pretty straight forward and easy.

You have to pick the guy with the gun otherwise he kills you easily. Partner him up with the hawks as they have the most speed and can distract well to give your guy with the gun more time to get a shot off. Unless we're given a generous amount of space however we die pretty fast, the speed of the animals coming at you are insane.

If we're excluding the guy with the gun, the hawks and rats are your best form of defense. Their ability to distract will buy you the most time before you're inevitably eaten alive by a bear after being flipped by a bull

you all underestimate the pack of wolves man. coupled with either gorillas or bears they can tear shit up and at the same time stay alive the longest.

I'm going to have to agree with Axe on this one. Think about it. How are all of those big animals going to stop 10,000 rats coming at them? There's just too many pecking at them.

And if you don't choose the rats, how are all of those animals going to stop hundreds, if not thousands of them from getting to you. The lions, bears, wolves, they have to bite them to kill them. Each kill taking up a few seconds, as they get bitten by hundreds of other rats. For every rat that they grab, 100 go through to you. And eventually the big animals are going to get fatigue from trying to kill all of those rats..

So I agree with Axe. Except that I would also take the birds over the wolves. Every attack from the bird is a harassing, potentially painful distraction.

Bears and crocs and I sit on an island with the guy with the gun having to come swim across the water.

Bears and eagles work too. If those eagles actually attack, they can take out anyone except the crocs and the grizzlies can deal with the crocs.

I mean, just the sheer number of eagles would easily kill you with only 1 shooter protecting you. There's no protecting you from 50 eagles coming at you at insane speeds and crushing your skull.

So the shooter and birds is the only viable choice.

In any case you have to take the 10k rats simply because none of the others can defend you from that.
