Westbrook Denies Rumors that Braun Refused to Give Him #0
https://sports.yahoo.com/nuggets-num...210052607.html
Westbrook is switching to #4 this year for Denver, and rumors were floating around that Westbrook had asked Christian Braun, who currently wears #0, if he could have his number, and Braun shot him down.
Now Westbrook has come out and claims that he and Braun never discussed it, and that #4 represents a new start for him.
If this does signify a new start for him, just imagine how many triple doubles Mile-High-Westbrook is going to pile up....

Westbrooks triple double days are over. If Mike Malone has common sense, he will absolutely not have jokic and Westbrook on the floor at the same time.

Jokic is who wanted to play with him. He’s wanted to play with him for years. Nuggets insiders have been saying that he wanted him. This is another example of people who play basketball, not seeing it the way fans do.
Westbrook has a lot of fans among players and he’s one of the most beloved teammates in the league. His work ethic is said to be off the charts, and he brings it out of other people. You could be surprising number of people you could find giving testimony that just seeing him and how he operates made them better because they understood the level of professionalism it took to be great after playing with him. He had Sabonis and Oladipo out there with him 5:45 in the morning, running drills with him before the janitors showed up in OKC.
In the league, he’s known for a lot more than random bad shooting nights or triple doubles which is all fans care about.

That doesn't mean that Jokic is right. But maybe he is right. I just doubt it.
LeBron wanted Westbrook too. How'd that work out? Players, even the very best, can be insanely wrong about the thing that they spend all of their time doing.
The ability to assemble a team, examine players in depth and understand how the pieces are going to fit is not an ability that most players possess.
Add Jokic to the list.

LeBron and Davis missed like 70 games combined and they ended up three games behind the pelicans who were in the playin and ended up the eighth seed. But because it involved the Lakers and LeBron, it had to be a big story people wouldn’t stop talking about. At the end of every year, only one team is going to win and anybody looking to do it can flip that into talking shit about whatever the rest of them did.
Jokic played those teams. I’m sure he knows the guy by now. Wants to play with him. I’m sure if they fall apart in the playoffs whatever Russell is doing will be a convenient excuse and most will simply ignore that they just fell apart in the playoffs before he got there. That’s usually how this works.
Teams that are going to lose anyway have some controversial addition that is then blamed for them not winning as the fans who predicted it take the unearned victory lap. As if one couldn’t simply predict doom for everyone and have a 97% success rate yearly.
I’m not too into that at the moment though I accept it’s a load bearing wall of sports talk.

Come on man, anyone who watched the Lakers that year will tell you Westbrook was a negative on that team. When they traded him the next year, they immediately got better and even made the WCF.

He was the scapegoat for the media and Lebron fans. Yeah he had some boneheaded games, but he wasn't nearly as bad as you guys made him out to be.

Well that didn't take much to send you into a bitch fit.
Anything that doesn't fit your narrative, huh?

Like I said Playing the results and ignoring everything around them is the easiest thing to do.
LeBron and Davis miss 50 something games instead of 70 something and won 43 games and ended up in the play in instead of 3 games out. We just had to talk about it all ****ing year because whatever team LeBron is on has to be the biggest story.
If Westbrook somehow come back last year, he would no doubt be considered the reason they got destroyed in the first round. Bit similar to the Ben Simmons situation. The whole topic of discussion for an off-season where the take is he’s the entire reason they lost. Cant win with a non scorer on the floor. Swap him for a dude who scored 35 a game as Maxey emerges into a star as well? Same results.
Inevitable poor outcomes have been used to make people think they are smarter than they are forever.
In truth, none of us knows shit. It isn’t random, but it is so far out of the realm of predictability just because of the injury aspect nobody should be taking credit for being right or wrong about predicting anything.

Westbrook did pretty well with the Clippers. Far more blame for his stint with the Lakers should be on how Vogel/Darvin Ham used him.

Westbrook shit the bed for the Clippers in both postseasons he played for them. He's good when he accepts his role, but he eventually goes back to his ways and plays recklessly. He was the most infuriating player to watch in all my years of watching the Lakers, and the advanced stats back up that he was pretty much a negative when he was on the court.

Bron learned the hard way to be careful what you wish for. Guess Jokic gonna have to learn the same way.

It was obvious Westbrook and Lebron did not go well together on the court, yet the coaches kept playing them together. Of course your precious advanced stats reflected the obvious.
