The logic doesn’t add up. So after he retires we will look back and say “damn he should’ve played more games”. Because somehow that correlates to winning an NBA championship? How? lol You didn’t think that reply through.

That logic is perfectly sound. You have a window to win an NBA Championship with Embiid, right? "Trust the process" remember?

You don't win championships if your best player, an MVP, decides to take time off and play less games at the prime of his career at age 30. Players like Embiid don't grow on trees, so when he finally hangs it up and Philly has won nothing with him, it's not like there's another Embiid waiting in the wings to take his place. That's the logic.

Philly is counting on Maxey to carry them all season then they take the bubble wrap off Embiid and George in the playoffs. May not work but that should be obvious

Embiid playing a few less games in the regular season isn't going to cause them to miss the playoffs. Potentially it could mean a lower seed and tougher road to the finals.

But if embiid isn't healthy in the playoffs they aren't going to make a finals run. I can certainly see the logic of him playing fewer games.

This is just horrible logic. I don’t even know why you double down to sound even more ridiculous. You do realize Sixers have been very cautious with Embiid during regular seasons for years now right? So all of a sudden they should read your nonsense errr logic and say hey let’s make embiid play more games in regular season. No more missing games, load managing him. Becuase his window is closing and we want to win an nba championship. And if all hinges on how many games he plays in the regular season. I can only imagine copying off your test and getting back the results. Yikes.

The key to the sixers winning an nba championship is embiid, George being health in the playoffs. Especially Embiid. It’s also being able to defeat the Boston Celtics in a series. Those two things happen we might see them in the finals. And we revisit this if that happens. But your take makes zero sense.

I can see the logic in it but to play devils advocate? Embiid doesn’t get injured because of overuse. He’s not getting injured because he’s on a coach Thibs workout plan. So you can sit, rest him games during the season. Any time he hobbles, limps, falls to the ground Sixers fans cross their fingers it’s nothing serious. The guy was playing mvp caliber ball until he got hurt.

It's interesting that this interview and story from Bontemps has caused so much talk because a week before it even came out, on media day, Embiid said he talked to Morey and they both agreed that there will be no All-NBA or All-Star game for him this season.

He legitimately ruled out any awards on day one, which I can imagine f'cked up some betting markets. Seems to me this was bigger news than just not playing back to backs, but just goes to show how much attention people actually pay.

I'm surprised Silver and the NBA didn't take action against this. Seems pretty radical to declare that you are not playing in the All-Star game on media day.

What? You still need to get in game shape, get a flow/rhythm. Silly question.

Exactly! That’s why you have to play! You made my point.

To be fair with embiid, he didn't imply that he's gonna sit for like half the season or something like that. He's gonna play in the rs obviously but this time, with a specific restriction. Although he would be so unfortunate if he still breaks down under such scenario.

He does play. I’m lost. Embiid issue is come playoffs can he remain health throughout. Everyone can talk about regular season games played/games missed. When it’s the playoffs are you there every game til the end or are we holding breath as you are out game 3 and questionable for game 4. Follow?

I suspect that embiid may have played some games in the past when he was hurting just so he would have a chance at MVP. Even before the 65 game rule went into effect missed games were a pretty big factor when voting for MVP.

Now he isn't going to worry about regular season awards. In the past he made it clear that he really wanted a MVP.

And this is why the NBA is a joke league nowadays. No one wants to play. The most conditioned athletes in the history of the league because of modern medicine and training, and the softest bunch of pansies ever in the league.
