Paul or Kobe. Whoever has the better record (NO or LA).

There are still 15+ games left in the season. 1 week isn't going to decide the MVP.

Never underestimate the amount of hate for him out there from the writers, so I wouldn't say anything is locked up until they hand him the trophy. This should be his year, though.

Beating the Mavericks and the Rockets is going to be a battle. If you're thinking about Utah, give it up dude.

Toronto plays at Utah on Monday. Now if Utah doesn't completely breakdown, they're going to win that. 19 wins in a row at home is the franchise record, which will be tied by beating Toronto.

But if Kobe manages to pull that off, where the crowd is into a record-breaking game, that's being nationally televised on TNT, oh and also the Jazz's home record (28-3), yes he should definitely be a near-lock for MVP.

The Rockets could very easily roll the Lakers, by momentum alone. The Lakers are feeling sorry for themselves for losing Pau Gasol yesterday, which allowed the Hornets to roll them. Maybe they'll show up hungry, but the Rockets even then are tough to beat.

Oh and Dallas should be mentioned alongside the Jazz in the conversation of home records. They're uh...29-4 at home.

    Good luck.

I think T-Mac is a candidate as well. Houston could end the season in first place.

If LA goes in the tank w/o Pau and NO and Houston keep winning, Kobe's done..

I agree that TMac is the biggest threat to Kobe for the MVP. It's unbelievable what he is doing right now.

True, but the upcoming stretch is TOUGH for all top MVP candidates. Houston has a brutal 5 game stretch coming up. NO isn't exactly dominating competition either and 3 of their next 4 opponents will be Detroit, Houston and Boston.

Kobe's team could very well go winless on this road trip and LA's record could still be idential or close to T-Mac's and CP's teams. And he'd still have plenty of time to make up the difference. At the end of the day nobody's going to care abt what Kobe did during that 3 game stretch w/o Gasol. The voters will look for team records and as long as LA finishes the season with a great record, he will win. There's absolutely no way T-Mac or CP are winning the award this season over him regardless of Houston/NO having better records.

Even if LA sweeps the rest of the teams on this trip, if Kobe doesn't play like a superstar, then he's not MVP. And for all you idiots out there, I don't mean put up superstar numbers, but play like a superstar. Efficient, team ball, not disappearing when needed, outplaying the competition, etc.
