Default A new Golden Age in the NBA

been meaning to make this thread for a while...

I really believe the NBA is entering a great era of basketball.
I think it is finally coming out of the '90s weakness which was a result of:
    a. league expansion (talent dilution), then
    b. drafting HS kids (resulted in poor play and no fundamentals until/IF they developed).
    c. prima dona attitudes (resulted, in part, from drafting HS kids).

Today we are seeing some very young but unbelievably talented players.
Guys like: CP3, Lebron, DHoward, DWade, Amare, DWill etc etc.

YET, all these talented young guys have GREAT attitudes.
Guys like: DHoward, Brandon Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Bynum, Gay, Yao, etc.

good times are ahead for the NBA.

I agree. There is a great nucleus of young players and its really exciting to watch them. Lebron tops it all, but CP3 and Dwight are becomming monsters right before our eyes. Deron Williams is a stud. Theres a lot of great ballers out there now.

    Great thread.

Its funny, I was actually thinking abuot this last night. I liked the part you mentioned that not only these guys are talented, but they have great attitudes.

Unlike the dark ages of the early 00's, Guys like Marbury, Francis, Carter, Mcgrady (sorry dont think that much of him) etc.

Right now, you get the feeling we are watching true all time greats that are only going to be approaching their primes. Plus these new guys are not only uber talented, but they are team players who are generally unselfish, and tough.

    Great stuff,,

It seems that the tide really began to turn with that great draft class of 2003. I agree... the league is in great hands right now.

You have great up-and-coming players at every position.

Let's not forget about Oden. It remains to be seen just how good he will be, but he certainly has the ability and great attitude.

yep i agree too. but you mentioned that the hs players were degrading to the league , and 3 of those playersyou mentioned were out of hs. lol. i think it can be true though that 2 of those are exceptions being freaks of nature

you might be right RBA, pointing to the 2003 class.
That, and perhaps the league requiring 1 year of college.

Yup the 90's were a weak era. Not only the factors you listed, but also the ending of careers of some of the greatest players in league history (ie Magic, Bird, Isiah) The new millenium has really brought a change in the NBA.
