I'd much rather send him to Minnesota to play with his younger buddy Rubio. Memphis is already a really good team with Marc. Wanna help them even more?

But yeah, I never considered that Pau might want to leave himself.

Haha well unfortunately unless he agrees to a sign and trade not going to have much choice, Minnesota might be an option but it'd just make them similar to what they are like with Love except a bit worse, Gasol and Pekovic would have similar problems defensively (unless Love stays and you want Gasol and Love to defend together haha), being a left wing socialist let's send him to the Bucks and make the worse teams slightly better/spread around the talent (bit of sarcasm never hurt anyone regarding the last sentence)

I think there is a large possibility that he leaves I'm not saying he definitely will but I think there are a number of things that will pull him away given the toll that all the trade rumours and everything had on him and his playstyle; he's had a coach that really didn't suit him and has been scapegoated a lot whether it all has taken a toll or if it's off the court issuesin the past I don't know but there's just been times that I've watched him and he looked just as if he wished he was somewhere else/looked depressed at times so I think he'll take a fresh start not guaranteed but a possibility, but he does have Kobe and a strong bond in LA so who knows.

Think Pau would sign next door for the MMLE?

If not, you guys can gladly have Dudley, the unguaranteed deal of Green and #28 for Pau!

If that was the case he'd probably want more years. The question is, how long would you want a 33-34 year old Pau for?

Honestly I think he isn't bad to keep. His injuries never keep him out for too long. He's a good serviceable big man who definitely earns his check. If guys like Tiago Splitter and McGee are making big bucks, why is Pau excluded from that right?

2-3 year deal for Pau is good.

Nash on the other hand was getting hurt running out on the court from the bench. As much as he was great back in the day, he probably should have retired before we traded for him.

You have to look beyond the past season, look at his age and what typically happens to 7 footers his age.....it is very likely you will see a sharp decline in play and a rise in injuries from him.....as we have started to see.
If he was in his late 20's we could take a chance on him....but unless he takes really low money we can't afford the risk.....it is in no way worth a chance of a meager reward.

For the right price Pau is worth it. He still puts up a double double every night. As long as we can keep it under 10 million I think it's fine to bring him back. It'll be interesting to see what the market dictates for him. There's definitely a lot of interest. I just want to see how much teams are willing to invest.

Actually, looking at Pau, his size/length and his skill set.

It's pretty clear that all you have to do is to reduce his minutes and he can be about just as effective in the half court offense.

Quality play for 30-36 minutes a game. Can play the PF or Center position.

Any General Manager that doesn't wants to get fired would probably offer him more than 10 mil.

Whether or not his style would fit into their teams game plan, that's another story. But certainly a player who can adjust to just about any half court offense.

If you had a say in it & you work for the Spurs, would you sign Pau to pair up with Timmy? Great stretch offensively, but a liability on the other end, but I'm pretty sure Timmy & Pop will find a way to make it work. Career-wise, it's a great move for Pau. Let's face it, the Lakers are unlikely to win it for the next year or two.

If Pau decides to leave, I would really love to see him play there.

That would be an incredible fit IMO. Pau would love that culture as well.

That's kind of like saying would any contender want Pay. The answer is an obvious yes. The salary cap would not make it happen though as he's not a veteran that would ever sign for the minimum.

But I think Pau is the type of person that will take a huge paycut to play for a contending team at this point of his career. But only if it comes to the Heat or Spurs.

Just wondering, because there has been reports that the Spurs are interested in him, & the fact that DKLAKER underrates him.

It would be a good fit, Pau could fit in a lot of contenders, just with his age he might not drop off as dramatically as others because he's never been incredibly athletic it's primarily been finesse based so he's not a timeless player but when his confidence is up on offense at least he's still very useful (just not as a number 1 option), he could fit well as a 3rd even 4th option I mean although it was on about 45% FG to memory he did average 17 points which is a decent effort he still can score with enough opportunities so put that on any contender he's going to help (but you need an anchor to make up for his deficiencies his height is really all he has left on defense as a positive), I think with a good coach he'd be a good fit in Houston or Chicago or the Thunder or Grizzlies, a lot of teams would love to have him, whether he's old and declining or not he's not totally had it just yet, but to go to a contender he'd have to do a Ray Allen style paycut which I think he could do just I don't think he would take a huge paycut to return to the Lakers (could see him taking one to join his brother as an example).

If Pau is willing to take a pay cut to the 5-8 mil area.

I'm certain the Spurs would look into it.

He's never proven to be an "injury prone" player. He will command at least 8 million per season. If we don't think he's worth it, I guarantee he'll get it somewhere else. Then who do we have in this position? Who can we get?

Please don't tell me Kevin Love. He's another Pau in the sense that he can't lead a team as the number one.

Assuming Kobe can never play another game for the remainer of his contract.

Kevin Love might still be able become top 10 border line in the league someday soon.

Assuming Kobe can play another NBA season in his life.

What a quality post this was.
