SAS said on the radio. If Melo comes back they will go after Pau Gasol. He also said that if Pau signs they would go after Marc next summer.

Thoughts?

Other than there's no chance Pau signs for 3 mill when the lakers will give him 10?

Memphis could be too cheap or maybe not think Marc is a max guy so "if" Pau was a Knick it's conceivable that you could him for a max deal.

But that's not a better plan than making trades

One has nothing to do with the other. Who said he isnt making trades? Sign Pau for 1 year then give him more money after that. Big risk for him but then he can sign for more money next year and potentially get his brother on the team.

In a bravado-laced interview, Knicks president Phil Jackson said he expects a positive resolution with Carmelo Anthony, revealing he has made five separate offers for the free agent to choose from.

Like I said before I know he has some deals in hand and once Melo is on board he can choose which he likes. The problem to me is that whatever Zen has cooked up hasnt convince Melo of committing. Which means Miami situation is a legit option as well as a possible Chicago move....

Pau can't sign for much more if he starts this year at 3 mill. They don't let someone come for a year and then have bird rights after that.

I don't thing a trade excludes doing something of free agency. If you think moving amare for nothing is possible then you should understand that moving Larry sanders and illyasova is just as possible in a year if getting Marc gasol was really worth losing sanders, illyasova and bargnani

Guy I dont know what you talking about. One has nothing to do with the other. You asked a question like you dont understand what the scenario of getting Pau and Marc.

It has nothing to do with trades of course there are trades thats on the table. Who cares about about Sanders & Ersan? There are potentially many different trades scenarios.

They are not mutually exclusive.

You dont need bird rights if you have cap space.

Dwight signed a max deal, the same yearly salary as he would have gotten from the Lakers...minus the fifth year.

Bosh would have as well had he done so too.

Bird rights only matter when you dont have the cap space...and you can exceed it.
