Default Browns finish 0-16 ... Hue Jackson pats himself on the back

We all know that the Browns achieved infamy today, finishing 0-16.

More astounding is that Hue Jackson has been head coach of this team for two full seasons and is now 1-29 in that span.

So, you'd think he would maybe quietly reflect on this historic futility and shoulder the blame instead of putting the onus on his very young roster.

Well, you thought wrong.

After today's 28-24 loss to the Steelers during which, once again, Hue's offense folded down the stretch of a game they had an opportunity to win ... how does Coach Jackson respond?

Typically.

Now, there are two ways to look at this comment.

1. That he is absolutely right... there is no one in football with a clue of how to lead a team that would go 0-16 and 1-29 in two seasons. So, in that way, he is 100% correct.

2. But since he was actually patting himself on the back in a baffling display of arrogance, I'll throw this out there... you could have trained an emu to randomly pluck plays from a dust bin and that emu could have done no worse than Hue Jackson did this season. In fact, chances are decent that Coach Emu would have outperformed Hue over a two-season stretch, just on luck alone.

But no, coach... do you. You're an incredible football mind. Just keep doing you.

Thanks for an incredible 2017, dipshit. At least we have the Indians and Cavs.

Browns have the #1 rushing defense in the league and they still finish 0-16. Odd.

No doubt they are a bad team, but looking at the raw numbers they should have won at least 2-3 games. The 2008 Lions were a much shittier team compared to this Browns team.

The defensive line is the strength of the team and we also have a pretty good set of linebackers. Quite honestly, a semi-competent quarterback gets this team at least 3-4 wins. But that's the thing... that was supposed to be Hue Jackson's strength.

Not only could he identify top tier quarterbacks, we were told, he could develop them. He has shown none of the qualities he was supposed to specialize in when the hire was made.

McCown was obviously the best QB on the team last year and he spent the season pulling him in and out of the lineup... then just let him walk away this year, even though the Browns desperately needed a veteran presence in the QB film room.

I have given him the benefit of the doubt for a long time ... too long. Hue Jackson is the primary reason this team went 0-16 and I say that with confidence. His unwillingness to shoulder the blame is a symptom of the primary problem, other than not having a decent quarterback.

They have 2 top 4 picks. They have to make the right decision sooner or later. A QB and maybe Barkley should help immensely. Can't really say which QB but it looks like there's a least a couple of studs.

Such a bad move to keep him, you want to get a competent head coach to let him have input on their high draft picks they have coming up.

They should throw money at Jim Caldwell or Jeff Fisher at least they can prime a team for winning in the future.

Bolded is untrue. They offered him a coaching position and he still wanted to play. He was pulled in and out all season due to a multitude of injuries.

Hue Jackson is far from the primary reason why the Browns were so bad.

Deshone Kizer is by far and away the number one reason the Browns were so bad. Hands down, no questions. Browns had many games this year where they were in position to win but Kizer would throw a backbreaking pick or audible into something dumb.
This kid had literally one of the, if not the worst statistical season for a QB EVER and people wanna put it all in Hue like he's the one making the terrible decisions on the field.

Further Isaiah Crowell is one of the most overrated pieces of garbage in the league. You can't count on the guy to pick up one yard. So sick of Browns fans whining about abandoning the run game when we are down and have an offense that goes from bad to completely and utterly inept in the red zone. He flat out sucks and gets the Browns into way to many 3rd and longs. He hits on a big run every so often that inflates his averages but having watching this guy for the past three years... He stinks.

What do you do if your coach jackson and your in the red zone? Your choices are have crowell get stuffed at the LOS or have Kizer throw a pick.

Jackson isn't a great coach but he is way better than coach pettine or shurmer. Give the guy a chance and infuse the team with some veterans and a QB that is marginally competent and the Browns will start to win.

Jimmy was right not to fire Hue. He deserves to coach an actual team, not one made up of rookies and sophomores.

EDIT: if the browns were to fire hue who would we replace him with? Another high school mike?

Also gotta love how every Browns fan was lining the streets with palms when Hue was hired... and he went from being a great OC with Andy freaking Dalton to knowing nothing about football in about a year in a half.

My dad has had 2 PSL's on the 40, 14 rows up since 99. Use to be $70, now their $120 per

At first he'd go to every game with his buddies and tailgate, sometimes give them to business partners as a gift.

About 6-7 years ago he started selling them for cheap to family and friends.

The past 5 years people won't even buy them anymore for pennies, he has to go out of his way and give them out for free.

And each year his private seat license fee's go up, ticket prices go up, vending prices go up.
