The bernie bros understand this concept perfectly well, especially the second half of that statement (which the mainstream media and both establishment parties claim to not understand)
Between taxes/insurance/co-pays and the rest of our healthcare costs, americans are currently paying nearly double per capita for healthcare compared to virtually any other country on the planet... and yet our healthcare still ****ing sucks compared to most of these countries we are dramatically outspending.

infant mortality in australia is 1/3 of that in the US, and their life expectancy is 4 years longer... meanwhile australians on average spend about 1/2 of the amount on healthcare that americans spend (per capita).

Re: Trump in a debate
Our system isn't without flaws, it is a lot better than the states though. We pay 2% of our taxable income towards funding Medicare, and if you earn over 90k it's 3%. Unless you pay for private health cover instead then you avoid the extra %. These days its getting ridiculous though, the cost goes up 5- 10% every year and it covers less and less.
Most working people supported the co pay system, so when you visit a doctor you pay a fee. Currently the main people hogging places at the doctor and hospitals are the usual unemployed welfare leeches who think it's their right to "free healthcare". No we pay it for assholes..

I said we had it better than the states lol, you guys basically have a third world medical system.
Private cover for families here is usually $600 a month. On top of the 2%.
So it's not that straight forward. Then you pay the gap on top of that when you actually use the system.
