I'm rather surprised that it took them a month to manufacture an excuse to stop the aid. MAGA can cheer and celebrate all they want but this isn't about making peace. This is about forcing Ukraine to capitulate and provide Putin a cart blanche in Europe.

so call it a war of attrition. call it whatever you want - it doesn't change the inevitable outcome. juggernaut or paper tiger - you're not beating a nuclear power that sees this conflict as existential, short of sparking off ww3. the continuation of this blank mission isn't good for anyone - not the people/country of ukraine, not for the us or europe and certainly not for the security of the world.

A peace without actual security guarantees is worthless. And Putin may claim that this is existential but that's part of his rhetoric to bully Ukraine and Europe into giving him what he wants. He can't change the reality on the front. And that's that Ukraine was and is bleeding his army dry with only a fraction of the required supplies. He has also threatened with using tactical nuclear warheads a dozen times by now. He hasn't done so and won't because he isn't that crazy.

His economy is hurting, his losses are mounting. Sooner or later, he would have been forced to negotiate and come to terms with his failure. But then Trump came into power and saved him.

I don't know how some of you can be so happy about appeasing to a dictator. That didn't work out the last time. Appeasing to some imperialistic psycho duce will lead to further war. Same for applauding Trump to readily give up ties to Europe. You think appeasing to Putin will give the US a position of power against China?
