But to determine the overall levels we'll go here, don't you think it's prudent that we get things straight on what exactly we're comparing? Because yes, denying Covid patients from entering a ship, and then refusing the ship altogether to make Trump look bad is terrible and probably not going to be comparable. But is that really what happened?

On 3/25/20, the NYS Department of Health, under Cuomo's administration, issued a directive forcing nursing homes to admit patients discharged from hospitals even if they tested positive for covid. The policy aimed to alleviate the burden on hospitals overwhelmed during the early stages of the pandemic by freeing up beds for more critical patients.

The USS Comfort arrived in NYC on 3/30/20 with over 1,000 hospital beds.

It departed on 4/30/20 exactly one month from it's arrival. The decision to withdraw the ship was made after Cuomo informed President Trump that the vessel was no longer needed. During that time only 182 hospital patients were admitted with roughly 70% being Covid positive.

The nursing home directive was rescinded on 5/10/2020 after widespread criticism and reports linking the policy to increased fatalities among nursing home residents. By that time over 6,000 nursing home residents in New York had died from covid.


So here is the timeline of events:

- Cuomo said "Hey we're going to start housing covid patients in nursing homes"... which was met with some public dismay.

- Trump said "Hey here's a hospital ship where you can house Covid patients"

- Cuomo said "Uh huh sure..." giving him only the bare minimum of cooperation as to not look suspicious and continued to send covid patients to nursing homes.

- Cuomo then declared "Hey we really don't need the ship right now we're doing just fine"... all while continuing to flood the nursing homes with covid patients instead of sending them to the ship. This indirectly kills thousands of seniors.


And while this was all happening, team blue couldn't get enough of Cuomo. They were totally in love. He was the so called tough and masculine response to Evil Orange Face. They were even talking about nominating him for President.

Again, the Comfort was originally intended to offload non-covid patients, but before the new directive was given it appears that there weren't many to send. It also appears that sending the ship back was agreed upon by the two of them.

There's no evidence that I've found from any source at the time that says the two weren't working together or that Cuomo was brushing anything aside. In fact, it appears to be the opposite.
