President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Monday that will require pharmaceutical companies to price prescription drugs in the U.S. the same as the lowest price they charge in other countries, in a move the president claims will reduce prescription drug prices “by 30% to 80%.”

This is absolutely the best thing he could have done reading just the headline (havent had a chance to read any articles). We US consumers are the ones that fund all the R&D for research for these medications. The downside of this is obviously med prices will increase for the rest of the world to lower ours creating a balance.

Goes back to making sure other countries respect our patents... and if not, tariff war once again.

Generics are not allowed until years after the medication patent has run its course which is like two decades.

op is quick to jump the gun on all of these apparent "wins". nothing has yet been enforced. we'll see where this goes.

trump did this during his first term through EO, was sued by the drug companies and it never went any further than that. if trump actually effectively pushes congressional republicans to make this law then he'll go down as goat from this alone. i hope you all realize what an incredibly tall task this is - some of you are aware of the extent and depth of corruption that our congress is involved in with big pharma. i support his effort nonetheless but will he follow through is the question.
