The Rehearsal, the show you didn't know you had to watch
nathan fielder is so fcking ridiculous. he's making hbo spend tremendous amounts of money on sets, recreated an entire airport. he has a bar set that he makes them ship across state lines to whichever state he visits for each episode. i highly recommend you give it a watch
the sully storyline is easily the best episode so far this season:

It's genuinely unlike anything else. It's hilarious, almost entirely in it's premise. So if you can't get into the absurdity of it, it's worth shutting off.
There are things I preferred about the first season, when it bounced around various situations to rehearse. But the overarching insanity of the entirety of this second season feels like a more incredible achievement.

I am also genuinely not certain what is and isn't real in a few spots this year.

the last episode was very much worth it. particularly the flying scene. i mean, he spent 2 years on learning to fly, circumvented the FAA rules to fly a 737 and then landed a job flying planes? i don't know if that's a legit job or not but that just added to the absurdity of the plot

The amount of time it must've taken to get certified to fly a plane like that, makes it so that he must've started that probably years before everything else, so the whole thing existed in his head, which is crazy.
I do genuinely wonder how much, if anything, is a performance by the "real" people. The one that really got me in this season was the douchebag womanizing pilot. He just didn't feel real to me. The fact that he knows he's being filmed, but is so quick to talk about being thrown off multiple dating apps, to ask the female co-pilot about being single, even before they're through the take off it felt like. He just felt like a plant to me. And I'm not really bothered if he is a plant, but it made me start wondering who and what else would be a plant at that point.
It's also got to get harder to do this season after season. I wonder how many people were approached then backed out after doing a simple google search and watching even part of the first season. It would be the first thing I would do.

I don’t watch the show but it sounds like your wife made you watch it begrudgingly.
