When "Keeping it Real" goes wrong - Latrell Spreewell Edition
It actually mightve been right.
It looks like the coach was bullying him, and he snapped.
Players didnt have coach back either.

Fascinating take from an insider on what really happened in the lead up and also the aftermath of their supporting him.
The relationship between Player and Coach has changed a lot since then.

I like Brian Shaw, he's always a really good podcast listen. Seems like a great, humble guy.
Based on his account it sounds like Spree was in the wrong. If there's a dress code then you adhere to the dress code. It's about respect for yourself and the respect for the team. If everyone else is getting dressed, you get dressed. No one is above the team. John Wooden told Bill Walton he needed to get a haircut or else he couldn't play for UCLA.
You're being paid millions of dollars, you can get dressed and look professional.
Sounds like Spree was being your typical spoiled diva and it rubbed PJ the wrong way, so PJ pushed back on his bullshit and Spree snapped.

I doubt anyone ever tried that with sloan when he told them to tuck in their jersey. He would have been the one giving the beat down

Full Court is a braindead homosexual who lets random men rent free in his pea brain
Coaches must be careful because players are likely to be preserved and favored over them no matter how messy or chaotic they could be.

Coaches used to act like military drill seargents. Screaming in your face and cursing you out. If my boss did that to me I'd knock him the **** out.

Eh... he gave PJ 3 strikes.
Even if he didnt dress up for the plane ride, you can't berate a guy like that over and over. Its not like he was lazy in practice. Apparently he always went HAM. And was generally very hood in games. At that point coach needs to shut up.

Sloan had plenty of anger. Not sure how many times his nose was broken but he wouldnt have backed down from spreewell.
Jerry Sloan ran down the sideline, screaming, ‘What the hell? I’m going to kick your ass!’ I was so surprised. I was like, ‘Whoa! Sit your old as* down before I hit you too!’ We got into it, and they had to separate us. That was when I realized that Jerry Sloan was a tough dude,” the Cincinnati product added.
