Lightbulb haha

johnysic's logic:

if you're young and showed that you can play in the NBA early in your career... you've hit your ceiling.

if you're young and you suck, you can only get better and will probably become a star.

Its more like:

If you played in college 2-4 years against strong competition, and have developed your skill set, you're likely at or close to your ceiling.

However, if you're straight from high school and haven't been exposed to a lot of top-fleight competiton, but have shown flashes of a high talent level, then your ceiling is high and you're worth getting excited about.

I don't think Perkins will ever be all that much better than he is right now.

Oh come on. Perk will be a double-double machine in a couple of years. He'll never be fluid on offense, but that's a good thing. Not everyone should be. He'll be a banger ala Charles Oakley. 10 ppg 10 rpg 2.5 bbg by the time he's 24.

what are you talking about? he came out of high school! i thought everyone knew that going to the pros straight from hs automatically means you have the potential to be an allstar. sure he may have been born the same year as charlie, and he may not have been able to have nearly the production of him despite having 3 seasons rather than 1 to get accustomed to the level of competition, but he came into the league out of high school! oh my god, look at his POTENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!

13.0 ppg (and scored 48 once), 6.4 rpg, 1.1 apg 0.74 spg, 0.78bpg in 29.1mpg

So charlie is actually doing better in his first year in les time on the floor and has vast potential.

Zaza Pachulia is never gonna be the player Charlie is or is going to be.

Zaza and Charlie were both born in 1984, hard for me to judge potential over potential at the same age.

Zaza really isn't that good.

Defensively he flat out blows on man and help D.

On offense his midrange J is poor and he has trouble finishing at the rim. The way he gets some easy scores is to take guys off the dribble and beats them to the basket. As a back to the basket player his game is limited to a quick spin move and that's it.

He has no hops so he gets his shot blocked a lot. In fact he was worst in the league when 82games.com did the numbers. That is why he is so much better on the offensive boards than the defensive boards. he gets a lot of rebounds after his own misses.

He is also top 5 in the league in picking up offensive fouls, strange considering he doesn't get that many touches.

The only way he will become effective offensively is if he greatly improves his mid-range j and forces bigs to come out and play him. Then he can get by them. But he will never be able to finish in trafic. Generally he just throws his body into someone hoping to draw a foul.

FYI Charlie at 6'9" w/o shoes is 1/4 inch taller than Okafor and is the same height that Dwight Howard measured at the combine, although Howard may have grown since then.
