The learning area? He has only played for barely six years and he was a dominant force at uconn. He won alot of awards in his three seasons there. And was just the number two pick in the nba draft. Im sure he has the drive and the intelligence to get better.
Frankly, after six years playing this game, with the physical superiority he has against all his rivals, if he hasn't been able to develop almost any kind of offensive game it can only be because of one out of three things: bad coaching, he's lazy or he is unable to do it.

I mean if you think Jim Calhoon is a bad coach then thats your opinion. But all I have read in the past week is quotes and stories from the coaching staff from UCONN about how hard he works and how he would learn one move and then practice it over and over again. Maybe their just doing the cliche thing and talking up their guy. But Rudy gay didnt get nearly this much love when he left UCONN.

You question the great Jim Calhoun? I honor your opinion but you are bashing one of the most underrated college coaches in all of basketball. He and his scouts recognize talent. Here are a few names for you that he coached.
Rudy Gay
Emeka Okafor
Rip Hamilton
Ray Allen
Caron Butler
Charlie V
Elton Brand
Shane Battier
Ben Gordon
Well, you get my point. Thabeet will be fine with his work ethic is true.

When did he coach Battier and Brand? Their both dukies.
I wasn't questioning Calhoon. I was pointing out the three main reasons that IMO lead to no development of a player: bad coaching, bad work ethic or just lack of skills. You both, jailer and BigSims have noted that the first two are probably not the case. So the only big reason left is what I said in my first posts, that Thabeet's learning curve is not the best one.

You may or may not be right. But lets alow him to play a game before you call him bust

Obviously we have to wait, although I'm sure he will live up to my expectations (which are just good deffense and good rebounding in both sides). The best thing is that I personally don't expect anything special from him in the offensive end, so every little thing he can do is welcome.
