Rick Mahorn is broke
The Detroit Free Press reports: Former Pistons star Rick Mahorn and his wife have filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy following failed investments, a drop in value of a $500,000 Rochester Hills home they bought and efforts to repay an IRS debt. The case filed Dec. 8 is pending in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit. Mahorn, 51, was a member of the Pistons' 1989 championship team from the Bad Boys era and coached the WNBA's Shock before the team relocated to Tulsa, Okla. He is a Pistons radio announcer. Public records show that since 2006 the IRS has filed liens for almost $214,000 in delinquent taxes against Mahorn. His lawyer, Scott Zochowski, said the tax debt had been repaid.
