According to a radio show with Gery Woelfel (the only real Bucks journalist), Senator Kohl won't sign off on trades for any of the Bucks' expensive PF prospects (Murphy, Boozer, Odom). Getting a cheaper player than them would be very tough, since cheap big men either suck, or they're still on their rookie deals. Decent rookie deal pf's like Villanueva, or Josh Smith can't be had for just Magloire and Mo Williams. So what options are left for the Bucks?
well, that sucks. They still would have the option of giving away a Joe Smith to a team under the cap, like they did to Scott Williams a few years ago. Of course, they had to throw in the pick that became Josh Smith to get that done, so I don't know how attractive of an option that is.
I think if getting a decent PF isn't an option, we might as well use Magloire to get the perfect backup 2/3 (such as Childress). If we don't improve at PF though, I can only predict an extra 2-3 wins next year.
I don't understand the issue... the Bucks have a litany of talent.
TJ Ford, Redd, Simmons, Bogut, Magloire, Mo Williams, Charlie Bell... all these players are above average for the position they play.
Even if your PF is only a solid defender (Joe Smith is a solid defender right?) you still have a scoring SG and a C, SF and PG that can score in an above average manner. Plus you have a guy like Mo Williams who can light it up.
Bogut at the C, Joe Smith at the PF, Simmons at the SF is a pretty good defensive frontcourt.
Darius is right, the Bucks are in a postition where I would barely change anything, they could win 50+ games if they had a coach worth his mettle. Kohl should be more concerned with firing Stotts than being thrifty on PF salaries
We have good players at every position but PF. Seeing as how we have 3 pg's and 3 centers, we were hoping to move the extra ones for a sweet PF. If we can still grab an average PF like Gooden, we'll be an improved team I guess.
Just keep in mind that just because a team has players that they really want to get rid of doesn't mean that fans of other teams know enough about the sport to understand relative trade values.
The rep "feature" is stupid. In theory it could be a nice detriment to trolls, but that's not what it's used for in practice. For some reason I got negative rep for leaking the Lebron IV's in the sneaker forum, and for explaining Larry Brown's salary situation in the LB thread. Got another one for pointing out that NBA Live won't initially be available for PS3 because the system won't be out yet when the game releases. Seems like people give negative rep when they disagree with you or when they want to shoot the messanger.
