You cannot say it will be the worst or the best till 3-4 years down the road when the players have developed a little bit hten you can ask this question. At this point is makes no sense.

Don't know why people are thinking this. I mean the last spectacular draft was 2003 with LBJ, Wade, Bosh, Hinrich, Melo etc.. 2004 only had D Howard, and last year had Chris Paul. Point is most players selected in ANY draft won't amount to much more than a role player or average starter at best. At the same time, there are always one or two players that emerge out of nowhere to be really good (i.e. Ginioblli, Redd), and then there are always going to be your busts. This draft is probably going be like that as well. I see Morrison, Foye, and Andrea to be fairly good players, while the surprise may be Brewer. TT I see as a bust.

Default Huh?

Don't you need at least 10 years to judge whether the draft was the worst ever? I was looking at NBA TV last night and they were playing the 1990 draft which was pretty avg too.

My bad I meant like your expectations of the draft alot of basketball fans will watch, but I only see roll players not including (morrison, and roy) even in those bad years there was atleast some excitement going into the draft, but maybe it's me but I don't think anyone will have there fingers crossed watching the tv.

The Payton/Coleman draft wasn't that bad becasue of Payton and Coleman. coleman was an AS, Payton is a Hall of Famer. After that is real crap.

Somone do a draft flashback - how many drafts boast at least 1 AS and 1 HOF'er?

OK to answer my own question - there is at least one All-star in every draft. My Allstar memory isn't good enough to really say it for sure. As far as HOF, I only went until 2000, because after that career are too short and HOF is too close to call.

85: P.Ewing - 1 HOF'er
86: Unless you count Arvydas in the Euro exception - 0
87: D.Robinson and pippen - 2
88: Mitchmond and Rod Strickland are the 2 best players. I say 0
89: Rice, Elliot, Mookie. 0 HoF'ers
90: Payton - 1 HoF'er
91: LJ (career too short injured) and Deke. MAYBE 1. Its real close.
92: Shaq and 'Zo. Definitely 1, maybe 2.
93: Best players were Webber and Casell. MAYBE 1. Its real close.
94: Kidd and Hill. Definitely 1, maybe 2.
95: KG - Definitely 1
96: Kobe, AI, Nash, maybe Allen - Could hit 5
97: Duncan, T-Mac -Definitely 1, maybe 2.
98: Pierce, Carter, Dirk - 3 Maybes
99: Brand, Marion- 2 maybes
00: 0

Over a 16 years span, only 8 years produced a definite HoF'er.

(2nd edit, someohow left Duncan off)

Chris Jackson (better known as Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf...I hope I spelled that right, it's been a while) was awesome in spurts. Like a more extreme version of Jon Starks with the streakiness. Unfirtunately he was held back by some disease or ailment...I think he suffered seizures or something. And refusing to stand for the National Anthem killed his reputation (IMO, undeservedly...he was unpatriotic but that doesn't make him a bad person. Respect the right to protest). Devastating jumper when he was on.

He had tourrets. He wasn't good enough to get over the failure to stand for the flag. Unfair, but you can either be good or be good to have around. If he was good enough, he wouldn;t have to be good to be around.

I think we'll look back on this year's draft and consider it deep. Less filled with superstars at the top, and more of a situation where there are going to be a ton of solid contributors and role players taken all throughout the draft, even late in the second round.

This was a funny statement for a couple of reasons.
One being he was an extreme version of Starks
I'd say he was an extremist
He would be an extreme version of just about anybody (because of his world views)
It really made me laugh good post.
