Anthony Davis is the type of player that wins you championships. Your bigs need to anchor your defense and protect the paint. Not shoot 3s and hover around the top of the key. I'd be perfectly fine with trading Bargs for him, regardless of his offensive talents. He will never win us a championship.
The Raptors aren't going to get Davis. There is still a lot of talent from 3-8 so Im not worried about the draft. Im worried about Colangelos ability to trade away Bargnani and his ability to sign the right player.
there is no way you truly believe thaddeus Young is worth that?
Thad Young with more minutes would be borderline all star. Per 48 minutes he averages 26/10 on 50% with 2 blocks as a SF/PF. He gets about 28 mins a game right now and averages 13/5, give him another 10 mins a game and he'll get you 18/8. He would be a nice player to snag before he breaks out he's only 23 years old..
I don't think i've ever had a problem with his drafting ability, because he always makes the easiest and least risk pick out there. My biggest issue as i've said many times is that he often trades away young assets and future picks, and also his core mentality on how to build a winning, championship level team is flawed on so many levels. He believes that since he came close in Phoenix that it could work somewhere else. But the fact of the matter is he had a Nash/Marion/Amar'e core in their prime and we have never had anything close to that in Toronto.
If the Raptors got Davis, I'd honestly be ok with gradually dumping every single player other than Davis and Valanciunas. That would be the first sign of hope in a while for this franchise and would immediately have me starting to root for wins with those two as the core going forward.
If the Raptors win the #1 pick, that would also be the best time to fire Colangelo. I'm sure that kind of rebuilding base would be very enticing to some hotshot assistant GM in a smart front office like OKC or San Antonio.
You would still have to get something out of bargnani and calderon, imo you couldn't get enough picks to make it worth dumping him for an expirer
Lin + fields + amare + picks for bargnani + calderon + kleiza should have happened
No Amare! How can you be so oblivious to not consider contracts and situations when it comes to trades? No one in the NBA wants Amare at his current price and obvious decline. New York would be grateful for any team to show interest in him at this point.
