With Chipper turning 40 last week, today was also the first time that a pair of 40-year-olds hit walk-off homers on the same day. The last time that two 40-year-old players hit walk-off home runs in the same season was 1986, when Hal McRae and Davey Lopes pulled it off.
Just got back from the city after watching the Marlins win last night and watching a few innings at a bar today. I think I was the only Marlins fan in the bleachers last night, a couple drunk assholes tried to start something, but it was no big deal. Saw the Giants mascot after the game, patted him on the shoulder said, "tough game" and he took off my hat and rubbed it in his armpits
Rivera torn ACL is the early word. Him, Pineda down, their position players are all a year older past their primes, Boston scuffling with their crappy bullpen and Ellsbury injury.
All that saddens me that Adam Lind is still the starting 1B for the Blue Jays. This looks like a good year to jump into that top 2 of the AL East.

You mean Teixeira who is 32 and Granderson who is 31 when position players generally peak in their mid to late 20's and start to decline in their early 30's? Not saying they suck but let's face it, they won't be getting any better. Same goes for Jeter and ARod but that's obvious.

Also on another topic, I friggin hate Adam Lind.
I guess your assumption is to state they are on the decline to what boost the Jays profile?

No, my assumption that they are on the decline is based on previous analyses that have shown position players generally peaking at ages 25-29. Unless Teixeira goes on the Barry Bonds plan, he will very likely only get worse.

Doesn't matter. They'll just buy the most expensive free agents at those respective positions.
It's really no coincidence that Longoria's contract with TB basically ends the same time A-Rod will probably be done. I will want to be killing somebody the day Longoria signs with the Yankees.
