Memphis lands third top-50 recruit in Kuran Iverson
Memphis coach Josh Pastner continues to land significant talent from inside his city and beyond, with the latest prize being 6-9 power forward Kuran Iverson of Fishburne Military Academy in Virginia.
Iverson, ranked No. 23 in the Class of ’13 by 24/7 Sports, No. 24 by Rivals.com and 27 by ESPN, becomes the fourth top-100 recruit to commit to Memphis.
Iverson chose Memphis over UConn and Florida. Esteemed talent scout Tom Konchalski told SportsNet New York that Iverson is “a great talent.” Iverson is from Windsor, Conn., and played last season at Northwest Catholic High in West Hartford.

I've been watching/coaching against kuran since he was in middle school. Very talented player with some unique skills. For his height he handles the ball very well and is a good passer. Also, his jump shot has improved a lot and he is capable of getting very hot from the outside. He excelled in high school using his length and anticipation skills in a 2-3 zone. That's why I always thought he seemed like a syracuse type of player.
As a UConn fan, however, I'm glad that the Huskies didn't take a chance on him. He has academic and attitude issues, and also seems to only want to play guard and rarely bang down low..and sometimes is a frontrunner (but thats gotten a lot better as he's matured). Plus, UConn has always had problems with hyped Connecticut kids. The pressure is hard on them and so many distractions.
But hopefully Memphis is the right spot for him and he can flourish there. He has some very advanced skills and great length and pretty good athleticism.

Not a loss for UConn. Seemed to always have his eyes set on UK, had attitude/academic questions. And since they are in good with Vonleh and XRM, no need to waste a scholarship on a potential problem. And I personally do not believe he would get ahead of Giffey/Daniels/Olander/Nolan for playing time, and with the potential of XRM, Parker, and Vonleh he really doesn't fit in much.
Nevertheless, a talented player picked a BE school so that is a plus.

Got anything on Vonleh? I know he just reclassified to 2013, which hurts Indiana in his recruitment since they don't currently have a scholarship for him. Not until Tom Crean runs someone off because they "don't have the grades" after he's already been admitted to the school anyway.
