Blazers regular season kicks off

On the eve of his first regular-season game with the Trail Blazers, new coach Terry Stotts had plans to grab a remote, plop down on his living room sofa and watch a little television.

In a minor stroke of good fortune, the Blazers' opening night opponent, the Los Angeles Lakers, opened their season on Tuesday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

"DVRs are a great thing," Stotts said Tuesday afternoon, before the Lakers lost to the Mavericks. "Because I can pause (the game) and not miss anything and then replay it. I'm definitely in scouting mode."
