Yeah, I realize that. Just commenting on Walter.

Disagree. Not saying we couldn't use an explosive pass rusher at the DE spot opposite Sheard, because that is something every team in the league could always use and Sheard is really the only natural pass rusher we have.

That said, we are absolutely loaded on the defensive line with young talent. I think Frostee Rucker and Juqua Parker could get the job done opposite Sheard. And, those guys are helped by having Taylor, Rubin, Winn and Hughes eating up blockers on the inside.

The outside linebacker spot is much more of a dire situation. We have literally nothing. Fort and Maiava are not starter material, imo. And, we have no idea what kind of condition Gocong will come back in.

You're loaded at DT, not DE.

Sheard needs a young running mate for the next 5-7 years.

I guess if the personnel department believes Moore is the best player on the board, he should be the pick regardless of exactly how he fits. I've always been a proponent of BPA. You can't look back on previous drafts and say, "We shouldn't have taken JJ Watt because he was a DE, not an OLB."

Left tackle can't even touch him.

The first 1:28 wwas just bad bad football. Makes me wonder what kind of competition did he face in high school. No way none of them were given scholarships to big programs. But soon after the 1:28 he was just blowing by and thru kids. I bet many parents questioned his age. One kid he shoved so hard he did the superman in reverse and laid on the turf as if he was dead. Think it was the 1:56 mark.

What did Taylor Lewan do to neutralize Clowney?

I'm pretty sure our DL is actually ready to play in a 3-4 scheme (especially if we could get a stud 3-4 OLB in the draft opposite of Sheard), so it wouldn't take too long to adjust.

The South Carolina defender had been able to simply explode off the corner to beat many SEC offensive tackles so talent evaluators questioning whether Lewan had the foot speed to remain at left tackle in the NFL were left satisfied.

Clowney, however, is far from just a speed rusher. His ability to jab-step outside and counter back to the inside gave Lewan problems. Clowney's agility led to Lewan grabbing hold of his jersey on multiple occasions, drawing a flag late in the second quarter. Clowney also possesses an impressive over-arm swim move, which he used, at times, when Lewan would drop his head upon contact.

Quote:
“It’s one of those things where he and I earned respect for each other,” Lewan said. “I said, ‘You’re the best defensive end I’ve ever played against.’ He looked right back in my eyes and said, ‘You’re the best tackle I’ve ever played against.’ ”

It doesn't get much more sickening than that, on both sides of the football. This hit will be one remembered; college 'ball isn't known for it's smash-mouf hits (in comparison to the big boy league anyway), but holla if you hear me. Damn what a hit. His ears are probably still ringing, helmet probably still rolling.
