A damn good band! I don't feel their latest album, but it ain't that bad. Still, Mad respect for appreceating the strokes my brother. You should contribute to the indie rock thread

if u read up on bios of strokes members you would realize they are far from "indie" rock. they had some of the deepest industry and media connections before even recording their first EP, that's why there was palpable hype about their debut album.

that being said, Is this it is a great enough album you don't even mind it's made by a bunch of over privileged private school kids.

they have an incredible loyal fanbase too, it probably helps they are one of the best looking bands around

The first record is amazing. The second one and Julian Casablancas' solo record are pretty damn good. The rest is not very good.

As far as debuts, it's up there. Some of the greats don't have great great debuts.


But the ones that I like the most are Boy (I usually don't count it tho), Mumur, Is This It, Black On Both Sides, Ten.
