Re: Charles Barkley 44 points, 24 rebounds vs. Sonics - Game 7 Western Conference Finals
This dude is so underrated. His defense was suspect.
But he was such an offensive monster. This odd ball combination of small forward and power forward. Low block power, and shooting ability and touch. Didn't play much defense, but was a MONSTER ont he boards.
Just watch him drop 56 points in the PLAYOFFS in 3 quarters on C. Webb and Golden State. He put it on them from the inside and from beyond the arc.
Kobe hasn't even dropped 56 in a playoff game before. Think about that !!!

The Greatest Powerforward Ever When Healthy!!!
Charles Barkley Was Not the Greatest Post Defender but He Was Above Average...Especially Considering His Lack of Height at that Position. He Was Great at Steals Using His Quickness Over Taller Players and in his 20s He Averaged 1.5 BPG in Philadelphia When He Played PF. Sadly His Leap Began To Decline by 1994 and He Was Never The Same Again but it Was Amazing Watching Barkley Block Centers and PFs Dunks From a Stand Still at Barely 6`4 3/4 ft. It Was Just Amazing. I Even Saw Charles Barkley Block Shaq From a Stand Still.
Should Also Check Out This Game 43/15/10 vs Game 5 of that Same Series.

I love prime Barkley. He was a beast. Only thing he didn't do on a consistent basis was defend. But damn, he was so versatile and talented. One of the first NBA stars I was a fan of, actually.

The Funny Thing About Barkley was that He Was Lazy Defending vs the Nameless Players or Average Players but When There Was a Top Player He Had to Defend He Would Shift his Mentality and Play Very Good D.
Should Watch this Game I Resumed from 1987 vs the Big 3 Celtics of Bird-McHale-Parish and DJ. He Had 4 Blocks and had 2 Blocks on Bird While Defending Him in the Perimeter (i did not put them sorry), Had 1 on McHale in the Paint after Preventing Parish From Scoring in the Play Beforre Inside the Paint. At the End of the Game, He Also Prevents Bird from Scoring: Here You Go:

Re: Charles Barkley 44 points, 24 rebounds vs. Sonics - Game 7 Western Conference Finals
Barkley used to elevate his performance for the playoffs just as much as MJ did. Statistically, sometimes even more. Sir Charles was the first player I was a fan of, KJ close 2nd.. but I had the Sir Charles lightning poster in my room back in those days.
Re: Charles Barkley 44 points, 24 rebounds vs. Sonics - Game 7 Western Conference Finals
That every next season the Sonics team had the best record in the league only to ousted by Denver in the 1st round as a #1 seed (Nuggs were 8th seed)
LMAO....silly tragic sonics memories.
During that off season they got Detlef and Kendall Gill. Nice FO moves.
