as someone at SBN pointed out, this is like the first time richard evans hasn't headlined since UFC 74 or so. on another note, lil nog looked huge compared to him at the staredown, FWIW. superbrat of course also looked huge next to him, but i think richard and lyoto gave him pretty much the most resistance of all jones' fights.
the reem - bigfoot staredown was pretty pretty amazing. bigfoot choosing to whine "you better respect me" and reem replying "i'm going to f--king destroy you."
an actual snapshot of the moment, but slightly enhanced for clarity:
If Bigfoot beats Overeem that would have to be the upset of the year imo, the other fights I expect Rashad to just use his takedowns to wear out Lil Nog in a rather boring type fight. I expect Aldo to just be to athletic for Frankie who imo by moving down to 145 losses his bigggest edge that he had on guys @155 and thats speed, althought Frankie was powerful @155 a lot of that came from his speed and he just won't have that against Aldo who has massive power as well.
I'm picking Aldo too but I really have no idea how that fight will go. I think that as long as Aldo doesn't tire, his striking should win it for him but I also think Frankie could tire him out towards the end. Aldo in a close decision is my pick but I wouldn't be at all shocked if Frankie takes it.
While Aldo is my pick, I hope Frankie wins it. If Edgar loses then where does he go? A relevant Frankie Edgar is good for the UFC and him winning, basically ensures a rematch would happen at some point.
I'd also like to see Maia win for similar reasons. I'm interested in seeing him near the top of WW. Although he hasn't exactly looked great in the past vs wrestlers.
