Either way, need a gay Jackie Robinson. Hopefully someone super flamboyant and dominant.
that is what the gay Vikes player said, as well as Shannon Sharpe...read the links I posted

the Vikes player was suicidal his entire career...

why do you think we have never had an actively open gay player Macho?

I mean if there are so many gays in the league and teammates are just goofin around about it, why aren't any coming forward?

Because they would be ostracized. Because of the self loathing also being a gay person in a lifestyle that hates gays. Because they don't have to and can continue living an easier life and not being the first person outed.

Not because they don't exist.

naw, after retirement it is no different than any other profession...they would be coming out, esp after seeing the 3 that have do it...

you are just assuming that there are lots of gays in the NFL, but the fact that we don't see any says otherwise.

How do you know players aren't gay once they are retired? Are you doing a survey? You don't know who is gay. This reminds me of people who tell me "i don't know any gay people". Because you know, we all know the sexual preferences even if unannounced of everyone we see.

Those freaking cowboy teams that were so great had people kidnapping people, stabings and a secret drug cartel. There are probably bodies under the field at the new stadium. You don't think they could hide being gay?

I don't think there are a whole lot, probably less percentage than general population like you said.

I'm sure there are a lot of macho assholes who would be shitheads about it, so the gay players just keep it to themselves just to make it easier. I don't know about having a bunch of players trying to injure their teammate for being gay though.

I would love to see someone dominate like Brady or Manning but be really really gay while doing it.

I think Tebow might be a closet homosexual, but he isn't good at football.

niko of the thousands of players that have retired a grand total of 3 have come out...they have no reason to hide it any more when retired, none.

IMO that is strong evidence to suggest that there just aren't that many gays in the NFL...and IMO it makes sense that they wouldn't want to be around it for the reasons listed by the Vike's player. I bet most are turned off to football locker rooms as early as Jr High.

It's easily researched that there are 5 former NFL players who have come out as gay.

As for coming out in retirement, why would they? Unless you're going to write a book about the experience or go on the talk show circuit, what's to be gained other than subjecting yourself to the same bigotry and sabotaging any post-career endorsements, card shows, appearances. Lots of players count on that stuff as retirement income.

There's plenty of reasons. Because they don't want to be bothered. Because they want to go on with their lives. Because they don't want to be ostracized. Because they want it to remain private. Because they don't feel like sharing their sexual orientation with the rest of the world. Because they feel it might hurt their image. Because nobody asked. Etc, etc, etc...

From what I've read, PT is overstating things. 1 former player says there are semi-open gay players that are known to be gay, but aren't ostracized.

Evidently Culliver does like that sweet stuff with the way he has let Baltimore's receivers bend him over tonight.

If it didn't then don't you think a current player would come out?

Well, I think it's a much lower % than general population, but higher than what you think. I'm kind of surprised no current player has come out, but I guess nobody wants to be the first. Doesn't this give people ammo to say that maybe gay people aren't that proud?

Why do you keep bringing up Hollywood? Not comprable to NFL players.
