Texas A&M dominates the state of Texas. Just a sign of things to come.

Well, here's the most bizarre story of signing day. 5 star RB Alex Collins' mom stole his LOI to Arkansas and ran away with it (they still can't find her) because she wants him to stay home and go to Miami. What a selfish woman, he doesn't even live with her.

Quote:
1:35 Update: There may soon be a resolution to this story if Collins can track down his dad and have him sign the letter of intent to Arkansas.

12:40 Update: Corey Long reported on ESPN that Collins' mom has upstaged his signing ceremony and is refusing to let him sign his letter of intent to Arkansas. In fact, she cannot even be found.

"The papers are not there. I've been told by two different sources that Alex Collins' mom confiscated the papers and took off and ran with them. They are looking for her currently. From what I understand, Alex is not at the school right now, he is looking for his mom. She was quite torn up about him leaving."

Original: On Monday evening, Alex Collins chose the Arkansas Razorbacks. Collins is one of the highest rated recruits in the country, a five-star running back out of Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) South Plantation High School.

But not everyone was happy that Collins chose Arkansas over the hometown Miami Hurricanes.

In particularly, Collins' mom was rumored to be unhappy with his choice. Collins had a hard upbringing and doesn't live with his mom, but instead with his coach Doug Gatewood. But mommas are still mommas, and Collins' was known to be strongly in favor of him staying home and signing with the Miami Hurricanes.

And that may have caused some of the drama today. Alex Collins was set to sign in the signing ceremony around 11 a.m., and was seen in a suit and tie according to students on twitter at his school.

But he didn't show up. Could this be a situation in which the parent is refusing to sign the letter of intent? Perhaps. It certainly would not be unprecedented in the world of college football recruiting.

His Dad ended up signing the LOI to Arkansas, so it looks like he's still headed to Arkansas. But now his mom has hired a lawyer from Johnny Cochrans firm and is trying to still get her son to go to Miami. Such a weird story.

I feel like that lawyer has a moral obligation to just tell her she is delusional and shouldn't waste her money. Looks like we know where the cash saved from that college scholarship will be going.

Yeah, the whole Alex Collins thing was nuts. We had some fans here freaking out after his mom hired a lawyer, saying this wasn't going to go away anytime soon. However, since the day after NSD, I've barely heard a damn thing about it. Sports talk radio, message boards, news, etc. have all but stopped talking about it. And, really, what can his mom do now? It's not like she had a strong case that had a chance of standing up in court.

And on another note, I have to say I'm pretty damn impressed with the recruiting class Bielema was able to pull off in such a short amount of time. There were some fans losing their shit because he pulled the scholarship offer from a 4-star RB out of Louisiana and Knile Davis was leaving early, and they thought we were going to be extremely thin at RB. But Bielema goes into south Florida (well, Partridge deserves most of the credit) and gets a commitment from a 5-star RB. Then he gets a 4-star top 150 offensive lineman out of south Florida. Obviously ranking wise it's not all that impressive of a class, but given the situation and how little time he had to work with, I think he exceeded expectations. Heard on the radio that, out of the 25 players that took an OV after Bielema was hired, he got 20 of them to commit. Obviously a lot of them were already committed before he was hired, but we didn't have a lot of decommits like you normally see after a coaching change, and he closed the deal on the non-commits he wanted.
