Exactly how much do you need to "overrate" a guy who is bigger and stronger, younger with less wear and tear, and who knows the HC and offense, to think he can unseat Vick ?
Dixon was a Heisman candidate who did a nice job as backup in Pitt. He's a solid football player. He's been in the league 5 years and will see this as the one and only golden opportunity for him to win a job.
They can't go into camp with only Dixon or only Vick, and Foles just doesn't seem to be in the plan. They extended an olive branch to Vick by restructuring the deal, and hedged their bet. Maybe he comes in in great shape and busts his butt to learn the offense. If not, they're out $3 mil and send him packing with Dixon as the #1 and whatever young guy they draft late as the #2.
It would be foolish to think this team is going to win with either at QB. This is a stopgap plan at best, a huge disaster at worst. But I doubt they want another year of fan backlash at an ineffective and injured Vick. He'll get his chance, but I think he'll be on a very, very short leash (no pun intended).
