Good point, but in Orlando's case I'm also taking into consideration their considerable upgrade in coaching. SVG will put a good team out there....I would say maybe 45 wins.
But as you get higher up in the standings, you can't look at raw win totals...it's all exponential.
A team like boston who won 24 games might win 40 the next which is a great step in the right direction but i think it's a lot harder to break yourself from the middle of the pack and into 45-50 win territory than it is to distance yourself from the bottom feeders and into mediocrity.
Just my opinion.
Well, the Celts can easily beat Orlando in a 7 seven game series now. Dwight struggled on O(14 ppg) when being played by Kendrick, while Jefferson played above average being played by Dwight (21 ppg). Add the fact that Rashard is a lazy defender so Pierce will go off, and although Ray Allen isn't spectacular on D, Hedo/Ariza won't burn us too bad.
The East got LeBron, Wade, and Bosh just a few years ago.
The problem with the Eastern Conference is the GMs in the East don't have a clue as to how to build a good TEAM. Too many GMs in the East have no clue as to how to manage assets, no real vision for their teams, and consequently end up making ill-advised draft selections and/or trades.
Idiots like Isiah and Ainge are running amok in the East. Look at Colangelo ... goes to the Raptors, one of the worst teams in the East, and in 1-year turns them into a 3rd seed playoff team in the East.
The GMs in the West are simply better than the GMs in the East, that's why there's this huge disparity between the two conferences. What's the excuse for teams like Atlanta that get high draft picks every year, have cap room every year, still sucking every year? Even the Clippers have gotten decent.

You're telling me that wasn't the talk around here as soon as Francis was traded to NY?
It was the butt of every joke.
You obviously lack in basketball IQ and before you go talking about the knicks and zach randoph make sure you know the facts and the players, team plan, and roles on the team, as well as player background. Randoph was never EVER selfish with the ball untill last season because no one else except for roy towards the end of the season could score and he basically put everything on his back. So to say there would be a problem with him sharing the ball is just ridiculous. And before last season he still averaged more than 20pts and 10 rebounds. So you are WRONG. ALso Curry does not hog the ball and is not SELFISH ENOUGH. The knicks run the ball through him because that is part of the team plan, he is in no way selfish. AGAIN WRONG! Zack will be playing around the free throw line where frye was playing last season shooting the mid Js and driving playing off of eddy curry. Two different positions and two different roles for the team. Please learn some basketball and don't talk without knowing total knowledge of the situation. You should be embarrassed.
East is certainly getting more competitive and less... trash. I think they have more and more teams that can finish with a winning record and get in the playoffs. And can make the conference look more respectable. However, the West still has more legit title contenders and arguable 6 teams better than the East's best atleast as the Heat and Pistons currently look. Definately 3 teams better than the East's best.
And the only teams that have really gotten better are bottom tier teams, none of the ones at the brink of contention or already there. Teams like Washington need to make moves, NJ could use a more proven post player (though people think Krstic has improved in the post and can provide that), Cleveland, Miami.
