No doubt it's a "turn your brain off" kinda flick, with meh acting from most everyone but Pearce, and more than a few elements but I like sci-fi and prison movies a lot so I still enjoyed it.

9/10

Excellent flick loosely based on real events. 2 planes, one German, one British shoot each other down in a remote mountainous area of Norway in 1940 and the surviving crew members must cooperate with each other in order to survive. Beautifully shot. Some of the dialogue gets sappy in parts, otherwise I'd give it a perfect score.

Shotgun Stories - 8/10

This is the first film by Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, Mud) and it's about a blood feud between two sets of step brothers in Arkansas. It was very good and Michael Shannon is just such a good and interesting actor that he elevates the whole thing. Very much looking forward to more things from Jeff Nichols.

Wolf Creek 2

If you've seen the first one you know what to expect. Crocodile Dundee meets Ted Bundy is back and one again preying on tourists. Plenty violent; I probably could have lived without seeing a dude get his dick cut off though lol.

Lots of one-liners from Crocodile Bundy. He's pretty cartoony in this, can't recall if it's more or less than the first one. Solid slasher with a memorable villain if you're in the mood.

Under the Skin

Awfully disappointed. Was really into it for the first 20-30 minutes, then just got bored. Some interesting story telling methods, I enjoyed the way that explanations were revealed rather than spelled out but not nearly enough explanation was given in my opinion with far too many pregnant pauses in between. Some pretty pictures and cool ideas but fell really flat for me. I suppose I would recommend seeing it just because it's unique but I didn't like it, felt like it stole some of my life force.

LA Confidential

"Neo-noir" crime/drama/mystery set in the seedier side of glamorous Hollywood in the 50s. Focuses on two cops mainly; one who's a straight-laced, by-the-book kinda guy and another who's on the volatile side of things and is more about the means than the end.

Nichols has a mutually fond relationship with Shannon obviously. Take Shelter I didn't see, but was apparently a huge Shannon role. And more of an indicator is when he cast Shannon, and Shannon took the small role, of the older cousin of the second boy in Mudd. He was interesing in the few short scenes he had, as Shannon usually is. But it's not a role you'd expect him to take as his profile has expanded, unless the two have a really good relationship.

The scene where he indirectly warns the boy about Mud might have been my favorite scene of the film.

I saw Amazing Spider Man 2. Thought it was really good. Perfect balance of fun comic book elements without getting into overly goofy territory like parts of Raimi's.

Garfield and Stone were very good in their roles and better than the first in that regard, i grew to really care bout their relationship which is rare these days considering all the shoe horned love interests om comic movies. Much of the movie is about them but it works very well. My only real complaint is not enough Electro, trailers kinda show all his major parts. Overall though, it is the best Spider-Man movie IMO despite Doc Ock still being the best villain.

The spidey swinging is badass too.
