Thumbs down Say goodbye for farmer's markets and unadulterated food..........

What this will do is force anyone who produces food of any kind, and then transports it to a different location for sale, to register with a new federal agency called the “Food Safety Administration.” Even growers who sell just fruit and/or vegetables at farmers markets would not only have to register, but they would be subject inspections by federal agents of their property and all records related to food production. The frequency of these inspections will be determined by the whim of the Food Safety Administration. Mandatory “safety” records would have to be kept. Anyone who fails to register and comply with all of this nonsense could be facing a fine of up to $1,000,000 per violation.

I’ve bought food at several farmers markets for years and I have yet to meet any vendors who are fond of the government. I think it’s pretty safe to say that most vendors at farmers markets won’t go along with this. The problem will be that the people who run the farmers markets will be forced to make sure that vendors are “registered” with the government.

Sick of the two party system and rampant nanny state yet????

More push back against this level of bull****. The two main parties are basically on the same page, regardless of the "dog and pony" show that they put on for the public. Regardless of what they say, these people have the same general aim, they are almost entirely corporately paid for and owned. With the aid of media propaganda, they have completely stolen control of the government from the people, who are now having policies such as this shoved down their throat and told to like it too.

Obama is mostly continuing Bush's policies of abuse of the powers of the executive branch, as well as corporate sponsorship and corruption. America is on a descent from being the world's most free nation to one of its most restricted and controlled.

You've failed to explain why the inclusion of more parties (do you want more conservative, more liberal, more centrist??) would have anything to do with the amount of regulation at the federal level.

All you did was give the classic rant with the following properties: media propaganda, "stolen government", corporate sponsorship, Obama=Bush.

Gimme a break.

Would you people rather eat unregulated food with no safety standards? So many people get sick off of food, somebody needs to regulate it.

And I'm not a fan of the current situation of the government by any means, but I'm for public safety.

Exactly. IMO, it would have been nice if we had spotted the salmonella outbreak in peanuts before it happens. Some of us need to realize that the government does, at times, have a useful purpose.

LOL....the mechanisms to enforce things like that and prevent them from happening are already in place, they just simply aren't being enforced. This provision is a power grab that will restrict food choice and hamper even more businesses. The "I'll gladly trade security for freedom" crowd strikes once again.
