Interdasting. One guy scores 8 less points on over 10 less shots per game. Other dude scores 4.5 less points on 5.1 less shots per game, with more boards and dimes. Both play less minutes. Both have higher oRTGs and dRTGs as well to boot. Points per shot as well is 1.22 to 1.66 and 1.33.

But hey, if you want a guy that takes 21 shots a night and shoots a wonderful 43.1% while leading his squad to a beautiful 5-14 record in the East, what can be said.

    Carmelo PER - 22.5
    Howard PER - 21.0
    Blake PER - 20.5

Instead of using all your little stats to obfuscate the data, just use "the one" stat which gives us an idea of what is happening on the court.

    10 in no order:
    LeBron James
    Paul George
    Kevin Durant
    Russell Westbrook
    Kyrie Irving
    Anthony Davis
    James Harden
    Roy Hibbert
    Chris Paul
    Blake Griffin

This isn't to say these guys are all better than Melo. I just think these fellas all bite into the team concept, and Carmelo doesn't seem to want to.

James Harden buys into team concept? That's new and interesting.

    This happened just this year.

PER gives a better idea, than the actual stats themselves? Otay.

    In that case.

    DeMarcus Cousins
    Isaiah Thomas
    Dirk Nowitzki
    Andre Drummond
    Brook Lopez

    Also are ahead of Melo.

nah dwight has been proven failure with lakers,
by no mean a bad player, but hes a cancer,
    the rest still hypothetical

melo is a warrior, and he was even adjusting his game and admiting he doesnt need to score 30 at any given night, that it didnt work (for nyk situation),
    incompetent FO ruin him

oh for statwhore, playin with the best PG in the league, and playin with JR.smith as your second option is sure different

Less rebounds than both. Less dimes than Blake. Worst FG%. Scores 8.2 more points than Dwight, despite 10.4 more field goal attempts per night and 5.5 more minutes. Scores 4.5 more than Blake, despite 5.1 more shots per game and 3.2 more minutes.

Give Dwight and Blake 20+ shots per night and a tick under 39 minutes a night, and their stats would skyrocket. It isn't just the statistics either, its the impact on both sides of the court as well.

Well neither of them are great offensive players.

You can regurgitate your stats till your'e blue in the face. Despite all your cherry picked numbers, Melo has a higher PER than both. Why is that? Oh that's right. Because your stats are cherry picked.

Blake and Dwight wouldn't even be able to get 20 shots off. They don't have the repertoire to do so due to their limited offensive skills.

    Durant
    Anthony Davis
    Westbrook
    George
    Steph
CP3 (although he hasn't exactly got his teams that far, he gets a pass because he shows up)

None of them guys I just named would get far (outside of Lebron) without a much more superior team than the Knicks. Jus sayin. What happened to Durant when Goatbrook went down? If you switch out JR Smith with Westbrook, who becomes elite and who becomes a pretender?
KD would still be a better facilitator and better defender than Melo, even if their FG% swapped. And, KD still wouldn't shoot 30% for nearly the entire playoffs like Melo did last year. His shot selection is atrocious at times, and those times are far to frequent. And, let's revisit Melo going 4-6 games with less than 7 assists...IN TOTAL....in the postseason last year.

KD > Melo, regardless of the jersey they are wearing. This is not even debatable any longer.

That record was thanks to Kobe playing top 4 in the NBA basketball for the entirety of that stretch. I wouldn't place as much as the emphasis on Dwight's play, though he did have a very good March defensively. However, when Kobe went out and it essentially became his team, Dwight wilted.

I agree though. Dwight is definitely more valuable than Melo.

Andre Drummond, DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas, Brook Lopez, Charlie Villanueva all have higher PERs

So someone who took 16.9 shots as a rook, that has continually expanded and improved on his game, wouldn't be able to add 3 more shot attempts per night.

Clippers would never consider swapping Blake for Melo. Can say that with 100% certainty. Now, on the flip side, Knick fans are going insane on our rival board trying to do what they can to deal Melo for their own first round pick back.
