With Kobe, Metta and Dwight, you'd think Lakers defense would be pretty good. Even with the two Steves negating it.

Our "terrible" defense is a result of too many turnovers on offense. Hard to play any type of defense when the opposing team is already 5 steps ahead of your already slow perimeter players not to mention Howard isn't in 100% game shape yet. When the Princeton is executed properly it results in an extremely efficient shot. Just look at the offensive efficiency numbers. They're off the charts. Once they get the timing down and get to know each other the turnovers will be cut down and other teams won't get 20+ fast break points anymore.

Just look at the shot attempts in those 3 losses. I'm too lazy but I think the opposing teams were getting about 20 more shots than the lakers as a result of turnovers. No team will win a game like that no matter how good they are.

Kobe and Metta aren't the great perimeter defenders they used to be.

Kobe is just average, and Metta is good but not great.

stupid Myth's formed by Kobe detractors..

*Doesn't pass(False, has pretty much lead the league in assists from his position for the past 10 years)
*Doesn't defer (False, if you actually watch Kobe play outside of the dark years where smush/kwame/mihm were his starters, Kobe loves finding the open man. Even this year Dwight's numbers are not suffering)
*Plays hero ball non stop/offensive blackhole (Patently false. Kobe is not jacking up shots when his team is in the game. He jacks up shots when games like portland happen, and his team isn't hitting shots or making freethrows.
Doesn't play defense (Partial truth, in a sense that he can't just play defense like other past greats - When you're called on to guard the other team's best player/run point/score 25+ ppg, you get gassed. Even exceptional atheletes run out)
Takes bad shots (Truth - that's always been Kobe's main weakness as a player, his confidence is perhaps a bit too high..and in tough spots he will create a hard/bad shot)

- I could go on and on, but these kids who watch him annihilate their team twice a year don't understand his game, or his character as a player....FG% and effienticy don't mean much in Unique player like Kobe with his skill;set

- Kids who spew "FG%" and "efficientcy" sound like tired parrots just regurgitating the same ol' stuff without any understanding of what they are saying = no comprehension

people seem to forget nash always has had a athletic 3. mwp is big n more like a tweener forward i feel.
