Default BK released

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2921077

$4 million less in salaries is nice.

That puts us somewhere around $20 million under the cap next season.
ESPN's Trade Machine says we are about $10.7 million under the cap. Add in $4.4 million for releasing BK and another $5.5 million b/c Gerald didn't take his option. [All of this changes when we sign the rookies and release/re-sign some of our other guys who are paid 1-2 million]

That means we can pay Wallace 10-12 and have another 8 - 10 to do stuff with (like extend Okafor and Felton). IMO, get rid of Morrison who is making more than Felton and playing a lot worse.

Notables: Okafor = $4.3 million (2 years left), Felton = $3.0 million (2 years left), Morrison = $3.6 million (2 years left)

With BK being released, who is going to play the point guard spot behind Felton. They need to sign or make a trade to aquire a PG. How about sending Gerald Wallace to the Raptors for Jose Calderon and one of their other guards (delfino, dixon, graham) Then the Bobcats can sign a bigger name free agent with all the extra cap space left open. I think Morrison is a good player and just needs to develop a little more. He can become an amazing lights out shooter.

I for one will miss BK. He was a class guy and always underrated. I hope he lands with a contender.

I liked BK but I don't think he wasn't deserving of being the 2nd highest paid player on the team.

I don't think a sign and trade for Wallace to Toronto is a great idea either.

There has to be some back-up PG out there that we can trade for using May or A Mo.

BK was a Bobcat staple. And although I figured it would happen, I'll miss him. But let's face it, he really wasn't needed anymore. We've got Ray and McInnis. I hope he gets with a contender and helps lead a team to a title.

Right. So I'm sure we'll resign him if nothing better comes along.
