I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the fact that it was Lebron James that asked rather than someone asked.
If it was like James Harden or something, she wouldn't say anything to anyone. She would just laugh and say no.

Curfew? Is this girl like 15?

No mention of LeBron being engaged? Not sure it was that kind of invite, but he is engaged. Wonder what his fiancee thinks?

Nah, she tried to publicly diss him by telling people that he asked her to come hang out and that she had to tell him no. Also, her having a curfew is BS. She could have said she had a curfew, but then rescheduled for another day/time (oh, I have a curfew, but we can do dinner tomorrow), or she could have been like "okay, but I can only hang out for like 20-30 min before I have to get some sleep."
In all honesty, she probably got off on telling an NBA superstar "NO."

Umm... no. It isn't like she contacted the press to get her story out there.
She is from North Carolina, and one of the Charlotte Observer's sports writers wanted to get the "scoop" on her LeBron tweet.
He was writing an article about her, and used the tweet to add something interesting to the article about her being in the Olympics.
So the reporter basically asked her what was the deal with the tweet, and she told him.
It was no big deal.

Why can't she reschedule if it's only the curfew that's stopping her? Having curfew is a lousy excuse.

Ok, so she rejected him and didn't want to hang out with him at all, how is this still big news?
Lebron wanted to have dinner with someone and that someone doesn't want to have dinner with him or ever, and somehow people are suppose to make a deal out of it?
This is like TMZ bullshit.

I think it's the media's way of trying to humiliate him. Here, you have a mega NBA superstar getting rejected from some random swimmer chick.
However, I think it's pretty rude that she rejected him. Very 6th grade of her.
