Maybe he wants to go back home and help start a new Lakers dynasty. Which as a Spurs fan I'm saying would really suck, but it's the most logical destination if he's determined to force his way out of SA.

Exactly.

Thought this for years tbh

Lets just trade the whole team away from a notorious franchise quitter

Why trade for him?

Sing him as a FA and give up nothing.

Well what do they do with their "2 Max players salary cap" this summer then? How do you pitch a Paul George explaining him "Yeah we'll suck next year with you, but next year don't worry we're gonna pitch Kawhi so you could be second option behind him" ?

They won't suck.

Even if they sign absolutely nobody outside of PG, they can run a lineup of Ball/George/Ingram out there. Extend Randle, and sign Nerlens and now you've got:

Ball
George
Ingram
Randle
Nerlens

There are worse lineups out there than that.

Next summer, sign Kawhi, then trade Randle + picks for another stud allowing LA to go over the salary cap, and now you've got:

Ball
George
Leonard
Ingram?
??

Maybe they feel froggy and want to make a move for Cousins? Ingram and picks would get that deal done. Do you prefer:

Ball
George
Leonard
??
Cousins

And in reality, what will happen?
Someone will send some big money to Nerlens i think. The guy is talented and deserve some playing time. Will the Lakers be ready to overpay for him? Will they overpay for Randle too ?

And which western playoffs team from this year do you beat in a 82-gm season?

The Kuzma hype on this board is silly. The guy is a high floor/low ceiling player. Think Shane Battier. Nothing wrong with that, but those expecting him to become a big star are knuckleheads.

Terrible defender, he's also 23yo already. That's 4 years older than Tatum and older than Booker.

What you see now is basically his ceiling

Kuz and Deng for Kawhit + Gasol. Take it or leave it

Then you can just do:

Ball
George
Kuzma
Ingram
Randle

Hart 6th man

Still a 45-win team. This year is an anomaly. 45-wins usually gets you into playoffs but not this year.. Every so often, you have seasons like these..

Lakers don't have enough value on their team to make it worth it tbh.

Kuzma is nice. He can be part of the equation.

Ingram is horrible, and is the player Leonard would be if he was birthed and had repeated blunt force head trauma as a child. Some flashes of decency but generally ass.

Ball is pretty raw, and the Spurs would absolutely never take him in.

Lakers have decent trade FILLER, but that's about it.

Some nicer scenarios, as I doubt they would trade Leonard to a Western rival:

Leonard to the Hawks for Bazemore, Prince and Collins. Prince is a good defender and very good volume 3pt shooter, and would get open looks galore on the Spurs. Bazemore is a 3&D guy, a better scorer but worse defender than Danny Green. Collins is a stud bigman who is only 20 and could be developed by the Spurs greatly. One of those trades that looks mediocre on paper but could be very good for them.

Leonard and Lauvergne to the Magic for Vucevic, Aaron Gordon and Jonathon Simmons. That'd be quite the haul considering Simmons has proven he can be Kawhi-lite in the Spurs system.

At the same time, would teams be giving up anything if they don't have confidence of Kawhi resigning, assuming these rumors are true.

And if so, an offer of Tobi + WeJo + Milos + 12 + 13 for Kawhi + 18 + Pau is something that I could see going down. Spurs dump Pau, get two late lotto picks and I can see Milos working beautifully in San Antonio's system. And if they don't want him, he's only $2M guaranteed. Or take Austin in place of WeJo/Milos.

Would love Teodosic on the Spurs but don't see how they could fit him in with their incredible logjam at the PG position. (Murray/Parker/Mills/White)

Pop is in love with Murray a little too much, Parker gets his 15-20 minutes a night and there's nothing left. Doubt the Spurs would use Wesley Johnson either.

Austin Rivers would be nice to get, but my concerns are the same as they are with Milos.

Would LOVE Tobias Harris though. Embarrassingly, I'm not familiar at all with the draft pick situation with any team. I just don't keep up with that stuff.
