Default Is James Harden the NBA's version of Aaron Rodgers?

Harden: came off the bench after being highly drafted with high expectations. Actually did play, but the pressure was never really on him as his time went on and Westbrook/Durant got better and better. Now he got his chance to be THE guy and so far looks very good. Still early, could just be that he has the hot hand and will slow down soon.

Aaron Rodgers: sat behind Brett Favre for a few years. Highly drafted, high expectations early. Pressure was off him so he could learn behind one of the best for a few years. Finally got his chance to be THE guy and won an MVP award and looks like one of the best quarterbacks in the game.

agree. definitely too early to tell, but it's a good comparison if he continues to show out.

Terrible comparison. Harden played, won 6th man of the year award, played in finals in his years with OKC.

Rodgers didn't play any meaningful games until Favre left. He also wasn't "highly" drafted. He was passed up on by several teams who needed a QB, and was taken 24th overall.

There's this other thing. Harden is not a top ten player in the league. He may never become that. His talents are not anywhere near transcendent. Rodgers is the best player in football now and may go down as the best QB ever.

Tracy McGrady is a good comparison IMO. Like Harden, primarily came off the bench his first 3 years. Like Harden, had his best season to date in his 3rd year. Like Harden, got traded and became the man on a team with not so much help and became one of the greatest players in the NBA. Let's hope Harden has better luck than T-Mac, though.

It's not too early to tell that he'll never be the best player in the league. He's not anywhere close to LeBron. When Bron declines, he won't be on Durants level.

Durant isn't untouchable. A lot of lacking areas in his game.

If you think Perry Jones was drafted high I guess there are some similarities. I think Derrick Rose is the better comparison, but from a different perspective of course. Both came out blazing hot right out of the gate winning MVP early and are well liked by the media and the fans. It's crazy how Rodgers already has an MVP award and won a championship. If this happened in NBA people would hype him up like no other.

Oh and another version of Rodgers...STEVE NOVAK!

Man it's kind of odd seeing my rockets get some attention on ISH. I know it's only two games but I'm going to enjoy it while it last

But Aaron Rodgers didnt turn down really good money to play on a crap team. He waited and won it all with a stacked team. OP is a moron.

Stacked team in the NFL?

The Packers haven't had a regular starting RB since Ahman Green. And Jennings was(and still is) their only star receiver. Nelson wasn't even a starter when they won the Super Bowl.

24th overall is still a first rounder.. and it's much higher than being 24th overall picked in the NBA draft (which is still high) since there's like 6 rounds of drafts for the NFL.

Well you obviously shouldn't talk about football.
