Weakest era for defense, easily.

That would be the 80's. First round byes, 3 game series, barely any defense played, play 3 teams who are a combined 10gms below.500 to get to the Finals.

Defense is actually at an alltime high. Problem is, the offensive growth is far more rapid, so it looks like this is a weak defensive era to the casual, misinformed, and uneducated.

That has nothing to do with defense being shit but the fact that bigmen today can actually shoot a basketball outside of 10 feet. AD,Embiid,Gobert,Horford and Capela are much better defensively than every single bigman of the 90s minus Hakeem, Ewing and Mutombo

that's what i said. bigs are shooting threes and their defenders can't protect the rim because they're guarding their man at the arc.

i didn't say anything about the nineties. interior play has been on a slow decline since dr. j was doing his thing, and everyone wanted to be like bird, magic and then mike later on. it's currently at an all-time low. perimeter play on the other hand is at an all-time high. if u can't see how favored perimeter play is today then you're kidding yourself and there's no point in trying to reason with u. simply put, interior play today is to what perimeter play was in the sixties. it's a complete turn around. this era is neither weak or strong, it's just different.

It's hard to say due to how different the game has become. I think this era is really comparable to the 80's when it comes to talent but I think the overall talent of today is better than the 90's. Don't get me wrong, the 90's had phenomenal big-men like Ewing, Shaq, Robinson, and Hakeem But, looking at the current crop if bigmen like Davis, Cousins, Prozingis, Towns, Embiid, and Gobert you can see that there really isn't that big of a disparity in dominance. If anything, you could argue, that, outside of Hakeem (maybe), that these bigs are actually more skilled. You have players like Cousins who plays like a guard and is a phenomenal passer, shooter, and he possesses a tremendous low-post game, Anthony Davis is basically a bigger, stronger, and faster version of KG. Prozingis, Embiid, and Towns can hit it from behind the ark at a really good or elite level. And, all these guys, outside of Cousins, are great defenders.

Now, when it comes to the perimeter were are witnessing freak athletes like Westbrook, Giannis, Lebron, Simmons, Durant, Curry, Paul George, Wall, Kawhi, and many more. Looking back at the 90's, who was the second-best perimeter player? Pippen, Drexler, Wilkins? I would take all the guys I listed over those guys. I just think that the perimeter players today are head and shoulders above to ones in the 90's (outside of Jordan)
