Anyway, I won't go as far as to say that DTS is a changed man, but he has made a turnaround. Don't forget that Livingston will be ready for an extension as well and Q Ross will be a free agents and the Clippers MUST keep them. Dunleavy has yet to get his extension which should be happening not too shortly.
Now that DTS is in a big marketed arena like Staples Center and in the high basketball marketed Los Angeles, he cannot hide anymore. If he continued to be a cheapskate, the Clippers wouldn't be able to play in LA anymore and Donald Sterling would not like that.
Give me Kaman over Camby, considering how skinny and brittle Camby is.
Agreed. If Camby were a healthy lad, it's be a different story. Well, he'd be one of the best centers in the league. But Kaman is reliable, a strong rebounder, and has a good hook shot. It's amazing he's as good as he is despite his ADHD.
I love this. Teh CAVEMAN's one of my favourite players, and the Clipps are one of my favourite teams. Match made in heaven.
And really, it's not that great of a deal for Kaman. He's one of the few bigmen in the NBA with solid touch downlow, AND the ability to bang in the post and grab boards. And to top it off, he's a pretty solid defender as well.
Let's also remember that he's a lot better than his numbers tell us. He's the FIFTH option on offense. They already have one of the best lowpost players in the world on their team, so he just doesn't get all that many touches, or plays run for him.
I'll say it again, he's a future allstar for a long time. He won't start, but he'll be selected behind Yao by the coaches, and he'll stay there for a while.

he said "lad." My british family doesn't say "lad"
I don't think Kaman is truly worth $10 million a year, but that's the market for the league these days. Double doubles from centers (or anybody for that matter) don't exactly fall in your lap every season.
The one thing that makes this different than most guys getting offered big money is that Kaman seems like a diligent and hard worker who won't start taking it easy just because he got paid.
So yeah, for what the market is these days, it's an understandable amount, although I likely would have tried something like $45 million for 5 years first. Then again, maybe they did and had to renegotiate.

Why nitpick for 1 million dollars a year? Your not really going to sign anyoe with that amount.
This is a new era and the Clips are building a team to win the LArry O Trophy.
Deuce Wallace said it Kaveman is worth $10 mil a year unlike NENE
and Dalembert. The Kaveman is underrated. He is healthy, has a good
work ethic, improving, and developing into an allstar at a spot with
few good all around big men outside of Shaq and Yao. He is
a 15/10/2 stat player and plus he is clutch at the FT line. His weakness
is the ADD but he seemed to be not lost other than one game against
the Suns last year in the playoffs.

I realize it's the NBA and there is big money involved, but I don't think there's such a thing as "nitpicking" over 1 million dollars a year. You never know how the smallest salary break could help your cap situation in the future. There's no point in paying 50 mil if you can get the guy for 45 mil, and in Kaman's case I don't think it's like he'd feel that it was a lowball offer.
