And the word uprising has meant a popular revolt for over 400 years.

yep. coup - forced/sudden change of leadership
in the case of ukraine, there was first an uprising, then a coup of sorts, and then a foreign invasion afterwards

What? Coups are most certainly closer to an uprising than a foreign invasion.
