you seem to have a very strange notion of athleticism, chuckthou. the idea that one can be a top athlete and not be 'athletic' is a rather bizarre twist of contradition to say the least.

larry bird not being athletic is nonsense. he and duncan may not have been jumpers but put them next to the average college athlete and i'm sure they're both superior on average. remember, athleticism is more than just jumping- it's also reaction time, hand-eye coordination, quickness & agility and stuff like that. i'm quite certain bird and duncan were both quite above average overall.

Precisely.

The simple fact is that you can't play a majority of minutes in an NBA game without being athletic. Despite his sheer size and weight and seeming lack of speed, even Shaquille O'Neal should be classified as an athlete - or athletic by definition.

Now, about the earlier comment relating to the team captaincy, VC was unanimously voted in as the team's Captain by players and coaching staff, last week. There couldn't have been a more obvious choice, either.

yea- giving the award to your best, most-experienced player. what a shocker!

maybe they should have given it to sean williams, instead. or better yet, let jason kidd stay captain even though he's in dallas. they could give him a bonus for spending extra time on the phone talking to nets players.
