Default Thoughts on Rockets play with Yao Ming vs without him?

It seems like the Rick Adelman Effect kicks in better when Yao isn't there

But, they're clearly able to be terrific with Yao, too.

And, obviously Yao is fantastic and talented and a star, so I'm not saying to get rid of him.

But it's a pretty big difference, having him in vs without

Like I said, I like Adelman because he knows how to run the team with or without certain players. I really wish we had Yao right now but theres nothing we can do about it.

Yeah Rick is awesome at using what he has, and making them good. The thing about us when Yao isn't playing is that our post play becomes very one dimensional. Scola, is the only really player that can create his own shot in the paint. We are also undersized and get killed on the offensive boards. Having Yao in the post a constant treat also frees up our shooters much more. Yao can also get you a quick bucket that you can go to when the shot clock is low as a bail out. Really we aren't' better without Yao, we just do some things better without him, like making cuts, since there is more space in the paint, and run a bit more, but really the things Yao brings out weigh those things we do better without him.

even tho the team can still win games w/o yao they still need him badly. yao mans the paint, gets easy pts, makes fts, rebounds, and gets doubled which creates offense for our role players. if we had yao we woulda stomped the jazz.
