Kellerman:Kobe to Knicks makes sense
Max thinks it will be good for everyone.
1. Kobe reunites with Phil and Fisher and coaching staff who uses a system that maximized his ability. He joins a great scorer who will really help his cause to at least have a chance. He goes to a much weaker Eastern conference, battling very weak teams like Magic, Sixers, relatively weaker clubs like Boston, Hornets, Pacers, that's 20 pretty easy games as compared to facing 9 very tough squads including Pelicans, Blazers etc.
2.Knicks would like to get a better chance of winning and adding a legendary scorer would enhance that.
3. Lakers losing their icon ensures them of getting that protected top 5 pick.
For it to work, salaries should match Knicks must trade Stoudamire. Lakers should demand Shane Larkin who really looks good and Tim Hardaway Jr, who looked great last year but barely playing this season.
4. Laker fans know its a long miserable season anyway. Pull that band-aid now, let it hurt but it will get sooner than later by getting that top 5 pick, Stoudamire is an expirer, you have all the cap room next summer.
5. Knicks would have a fair chance battling atleast the 3rd spot vs Miami and Wizards.
For it to work, Lakers must make it appear that they are the ones forcing the trade so Kobe can agree to the trade. That Phil and Fish convince Kobe to drop that no trade clause, and he's wanted badly.

Re: Kellerman:Kobe to Knicks makes sense
It's very easy to lose. Lakers don't have to trade Bryant to do it, losing Randle and Nash has already put them in position to make the lottery. No need to make the team completely unwatchable by getting rid of the only interesting player.

NBA lottery pick

I wish, but Kobe's too alpha. It wouldn't be colluding to form a super team because the Knicks aren't great. However, Kobe is too alpha to join another team while his team is down.

Agreed. The Lakers are going to be one of the worst teams in the league regardless. Sure trading him now would help them rebuild faster, but Mr. Buss cares more about the money Kobe brings in than he does about making the Lakers a contender again.

Yes but losing Kobe allows them to start fresh by getting rid of his 25 Mil contract next summer. Allowing them to get 2-3 really good/great players.
Kobe avoids a miserable season.

Don't see any humor here. Losing a starting point guard and the guy they just used a lottery pick on hurts.

You're assuming they're going to get all of these great players. That's not a given. They just had max space and couldn't bring in another superstar. In 2015 there won't be any top 10 players available. Meanwhile the fans revolt. I won't say the Lakers make no money but I'd expect their revenues to take a hit sans Bryant in some form.

No it doesn't. Knicks are a rebuilding/crappy team. Why would they trade for Kobe?
