Default Dirk + Nash

Why don't they get hated on for not being able to win together? Any other time two of the 'best' were together they were able to get to at least the finals it seemed. White card played here? They had a pretty stacked and good team as well.

First, they almost got there. They were 2 games away from the Finals when Dirk got injured.

Second, Nash's career resurrected in Phoenix. He wasn't THAT good in Dallas. He was great, but not "clear best point guard in the league" great.

Third, Dirk really learnt how to be a superstar that could carry a team on his shoulders when Nash left. The move benefitted both.

Fourth, Don Nelson's style and roster may have been talented, but it was also high risk. While a mismatch nightmare, it was unbalanced and defensively suspect. If you don't play good D as a team (regardless of the individuals), you won't win a championship.

Because they were taking it to the Spurs and then Dirk got injured. They would have won that year if he hadn't.

they would have beaten the spurs without Dirk in 03 if Steve Kerr didnt pull out like 6 threes in a half in that 1 game

Incorrect, it had nothing to do with Shaq & Kobe. The Finley, Nash, Nowitzki Mavs never played against the Lakers.

2001 they lost against the Spurs
2002 against Sacramento
2003 against Spurs
2004 against Sacramento

Btw, Nash used to look rather mediocre against Bibby during those Dallas / Sac series, often got lit up, which was probably one of the reasons why Cuban didn't match the Suns offer (In the 2004 playoffs, Nash averaged around 14 points on sub 40% vs Bibby who had around 24 ppg on something like 50% shooting. The talk in Dallas was that Nash was too fragile and breaking town towards the end of the season).

Nash was pretty damn good in Dallas. But his style works better with guys who compliment him rather than being a 2nd option to a dominant big like Dirk.

They already got enough hate because they are white.
Let it go man, let go of the hate against white people.

Here's the "stacked" Mavs team.

Shawn Bradley/raef Lafrentz
Dirk
Walt Williams/raja bell
Finley
Nash

What a stacked team!
