You'd have to regulate heavily, obviously, and you can make drugs less deadly this way. It's not as if you'd have heroin in its current, often fentanyl-laden form (among other shit) becoming legal as a result of this.

How many people die from alcohol and tabacco? Why are they extent from punishment?

There are millions who take drugs for recreational use and do so responsibly, it's their choice just as the people who choose to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. But how many people have died because they can't handle their alcohol or drink way too much, how many families have been destroyed because of alcoholic parents? How many kids have died because of alcohol, how many innocent people have been killed because of drunk drivers? How many people have died because they couldn't quit smoking?

Why the **** are the big corporations that make alcohol and cigarettes not held responsible? Alcohol and cigarettes have also left a negative mark on society, just like hard drugs. If people are free to make the choice to drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes, why can't they take drugs if they feel like it?

Abusing either alcohol, cigarettes and hard drugs will take you to an early grave...what is the difference between the three? And don't respond with "because alcohol and smoking is legal".

If alcohol and tabacco companies are extent from punishment because no one is forcing people to consume their products, can't it be said for drug dealers too?

You promise? How about you do some research instead of talking out your ass. Italy, where personal possession of a few doses of drugs like heroin has generally been exempt from criminal sanction, has one of the highest rates of heroin addiction in Europe, with more than 60% of AIDS cases there attributable to intravenous drug use. Let's give everyone AIDS, makes the most sense

Anyone who thinks legalizing drugs would lower drug use better have some better reasoning than "I promise you, just trust me"

Abusing anything will lead to early grave. Abusing McDonalds and sodas will lead to an early grave. And there are millions of people abusing junk food and sodas.

The problem is the level of harm to society. If heroin or meth is legal, are we really thinking it won't harm society in a very major way? I think it reasonably would harm society much much more than alcohol and tobacco. That's why it's illegal while alcohol and tobacco are only regulated.

no im not ok, because i dont think that it will solve any problem. saying that, the usa already have strict drug laws with high prison sentences. the big drug problem affects not only the lower classes, but is spreading with great speed into the middle class as well.
this is as well part of thr globalization. a leading member of the FDP (free democrat party), a party who is in favor of globalization and privatization, emphasized in an interview that globalization doesnt work if you dont have a welfare state. crazy to hear that from a FDP member. But even our most "conservative" parties would never question health care and free education for every one. but they are e.g. for more "hie and fire", against the fact that the employeur has to pay half of the unemployement and nursing care and retirement insurence of the employee etc

Sure buddy, send people to prison for drug offenses so that the government aka our tax dollars can take care of them. Great idea!

Execute every drug dealer/user. It's the only way. They're never going to get clean.

Meth users don't recover. Heroin users don't recover.

Nah I’ve known recovered meth users. Worked with one for years. Granted....he was in jail for years to get over it. He didn’t quit on the streets where he had easy access to it.

In the right circumstances...

http://www.nbc-2.com/story/37383737/...nyc-new-jersey

Quote:
(CNN) -- Two men have been sentenced to prison for possessing nearly 100 pounds of the drug fentanyl -- enough to kill the entire population of New Jersey and New York City, officials said.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin, and a dose as small as a quarter of a milligram can be fatal.

New Jersey authorities said that the 45 kilos of fentanyl, seized in June 2017, contained more than 18 million lethal doses. It was the largest seizure ever in the state.

"The 100 pounds of fentanyl trafficked into our state by these drug dealers could have generated enough lethal doses to kill the entire populations of New Jersey and New York City combined," New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said in a statement.

Are you seriously comparing a meth fiend to a person smoking a cigarette?

Eh. They have declined so far to go into specifics but any way you do it the court battles over this are gonna be ridiculous...

The first guy they attempt to give death for drugs alone better be a totally irredeemable scumbag.

Why not? It would certainly clean up some of the trash on our streets.

"but how's someone with nothing going to survive then"

How? By not being a little bitch and figuring it out legally. I don't give a fuck how hard the climb is. People came to the US with nothing, knowing nobody or how to speak the language and became successful but someone born here that speaks the language we need to make excuses for?

I suppose we are going after McDonald's next?

Technically, they kill more people than anyone.

How many crimes are committed by people dude to cigarette smoking, compared to people on meth/crack/etc.?

Also, as UK2K said, unhealthy food kills more people than any of these things and obese people are a massive strain on the healthy care system (in any country in the world). You want countries to ban unhealthy food as well?
