Usually blue jeans and a button up over a white shirt with white sneakers.

This is also my only super hero shirt I wear. (I love it and I bought it when I went to go see TDK)

Glad you mentioned this. Ties are absolutely unacceptable in the following manners:
1) Rocking an untucked shirt.
2) With jeans
3) Bascially any casual situation. If you are wearing a tie with your everyday casual attire, you are a fucking hipster queer. There is no wiggle room here.

How is a casual tie different from any other accessory? (hat, jewelry, belt if you don't need it to hold up your pants, etc.)

You cannot be serious.
How many guys do you see in hats with formal/business wear? Ever?
Jewelry? Not at all associated with formal/business wear.
Belts? People have been wearing belts with everything since forever. And yeah, rocking a belt that you'd wear with your suit with a pair of jeans would be incredibly douchey.
Ties are not casual wear. End of discussion.

Cufflinks?
Tie clip? (are boss, period)
Not jewelry you can wear in a casual clothing style though...
Watches...

All right, my bad, I didn't think of those as jewelry, but yes, those would both be wholly unacceptable in a casual situation and thus I thank you for your contribution to my point.
BTW, cufflinks FTW. So badass.
Formal watches are douchey in a casual situation too. I don't wear my Movado when I've got a t-shirt and jeans on.

Well casual ties exist, that's a fact. Now i don't wear a tie every casual day but I begrudge someone just for trying to add another dimension to his outfit.

Of course casual ties exist, thanks to these guys:
Also thanks to douchebags like this, I get accused of trying to be "trendy" or "make a statement" when I wear my fedora with a suit or with sport coat/slacks.

I would have to respectfully disagree. There are a lot of ties not meant to be used in a business or formal fashion. A lot of skinny ties come to mind and I really do not believe skinny ties are made just for hipsters. In fact as with most ties and suits as long as the width of the tie is comparable to the width of the lapel then by all means go for it

I wear long sleeve with the sleeves rolled up. A watch and some nice jewellery.
