Joe Francis and Larry Flynt claim the economy has made America's sexual appetite go limp, so they're going to the one place where sex is always rampant -- Congress.
Flynt (the "Hustler" guy) and Francis (the "Girls Gone Wild" dude) are asking the government for a $5 billion bailout, claiming the adult entertainment industry has taken a huge shot to the face because of the downturn -- citing the fact that XXX DVD sales are down 22% from a year ago.
"With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind," Flynt says. "It's time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America."
Francis sees his industry like the big three automakers, only BIGGER: "Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation's most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration."
Francis says he's going to D.C. to personally make the pitch. Sounds like someone has a bone to pick.

22% is a really steep drop, but I am not surprised. There is so much free porn out there nowadays I am actually shocked that people still pay for it. The shop I worked for carries very few movies now, and devotes most of it floor space to toys, oils, and other sexual implements. The video-porn industry's business model has served it well in the past, but it has to be tweaked for today's market.

how do free porn sites make money? I don't understand how/why they even exist. I figure the porn industry is the last industry that would ever go under.
I don't mind them doing that to send a message btw. Its all good

Free sites operate on the drug dealer's the first hit is always free maxim. They also make money from advertisements, subscriptions, and linking fees. Most of the time the free sites only give you enough of the video to whet your masturbatory appetite, they then direct you to the site that has the full vid for purchase. Porn is the ultimate impulse buy, and is fairly addictive. Viewers often get addicted to certain actresses or series and will sacrifice whatever they have to financially to meet their porn needs.
